Free Speech Faces Threats From Violent Activists And The New York Times
In this video, Vin Armani breaks down two recent stories that show not-so-subtle threats to free speech. An event called "Stifling Free Speech on College Campuses" featuring Dr. Jordan Peterson was canceled because of violent threats made on Facebook. Next, the New York Times runs an editorial telling the ACLU that all speech should not be treated equal.

What I am loving about steemit is that there doesn't appear to be any sort of censorship on free speech. It might make sense to encourage our friends and followers to get on steemit, although it's a different platform than Facebook, at least we can guarantee that our articles and posts won't be taken down.
All on the blockchain no censorship here and permanent :)
Although it would be great if that was the case, there is still censorship on steemit. It takes one account with a chunk of steem power to flag something they don't like and your post is grayed out. Sure it's not gone completely but it has still been censored. What's to stop the new york times or ACLU from getting some steem power and flagging this post.
You make a good point. :-( ...speaking and writing the truth is dangerous these days. Their attempts to suppress it will probably only continue.
I guess we will just have to keep finding new and more creative ways to go around these obstacles as they come up.
Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing this, it really helped.
People who vie against one freedom or another either miss the point that the same kind of anti-freedom "movement" cuts both ways. Someday, they'll look back on their lack of freedom, and maybe some of them will say "guess I shouldn't have used the state as a cudgel" - until then, or until a miracle, we will have this toxic paradigm of thought policing in a downward spiral to 1984. Unfortunate, really.
