To the Western Wilds
Hi! My name is Christina and I am currently 21 weeks pregnant! I thought it would fun to use this forum to share my stories of our adventure West! My husband Mike and I have been blessed with 4 amazing children! Paul is 10, Lily is 8, Alethia would have been born in September and Brac will be born in December. We've lived in North Carolina for just over 3 years (prior to that Mike was in the Army so we moved around) and now we are moving on to the Western Wilds!
We've been feeling the pull for adventure for a WHILE but no direction as to where it was pulling us to. About 2 months ago we finally knew where. WEST! It is a pull for freedom, adventure, and community. Now we are moving west with the goal of finding land, building an Earthship (amazing self-sustaining structures) and becoming self-sustainable. We will be traveling to Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona over the next couple weeks to check out some Earthship communities that are already established in those areas and learn as much as we can about the process. We'll also be visiting friends and family. Once we get to Arizona we may travel further west and be tourists on the west coast for a bit, but we'll wait and see when we get there.
Right now we are in Tennessee staying with some good friends who graciously welcomed us into their home. Another family drove three and a half hours to come hang out and reconnect. We haven't seen them since I was pregnant with our oldest (10 years ago)! It's amazing to reconnect with real friends.
One thing I am learning as we step into this journey is to BE. Not to worry about the next destination or stress about making a plan. The adventure is in the journey and I do not want to miss it. So, I will try to BE in the moment. To BE myself and not try to force things to happen.
We are putting our NC house on the market and have sold, given away or just gotten rid of everything we own except what we have with us and a few things that we asked some family to hold onto for us (like a painting done by a friend of mine that wouldn't fit in the car). We are free. We can go anywhere we want to with no time constraints or obligations. We are free to BE!
Perhaps you've been feeling a pull toward adventure too. A call out into the wild unknown. Maybe you could stop and listen to that for a bit. Explore the possibilities.
