The Jewish Influence in the Creation of The United States

Before the United States became an independant country, there was a great Jewish influence and presence. In 1492 the first Jews arrived in America with Columbus. By 1776, during the American Revolution, there was an estimated 2,000 Jews living in America and almost every Jewish male fought in the war for independance. The values that the Declaration of Independance are based on are directly tied to the Bible.

“We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

This is because many of the earliest pilgrims to settle in “New England” were Puritan refugees escaping religious persecution. The immigration to America was like a reenactment of the “Exodus” from Egypt to the promised land, and the first Thanksgiving parallels the Jewish Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).

Early legislation of the colonies was all determined by the Bible. Half of the 79 statutes listed in the New Haven Legal Code of 1655, contain biblical references mostly from the Hebrew Bible. Many educational institutions have roots tied to the Hebrew Bible, such as Harvard, Yale and Princeton, to name a few, where study of the Bible was mandatory and Hebrew language courses were taught. Many of the Founding Fathers were a product of these institutions.

At the time of the American Revolution, the interest in the knowledge of Hebrew was so widespread as to allow the circulation of the story that "certain members of Congress proposed that the use of English be formally prohibited in the United States, and Hebrew substituted for it."4
The first design for the official seal of the United States recommended by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson in 1776 depicted the Jews crossing the Red Sea. The motto around the seal read: "Resistance to Tyrants is Obedience to God."

The power of Jewish ideas is clearly evident in the foundation of the United States and to this day they continue to maintain an influence over every aspect of politics, banking and the media. What this all means is up to you to decide….
