The patriot died!

It started with waving a banner, then worshiping the State. Soon he sacrificed every liberty on the alters of symbolism, fear, borders and wealth. He warred for the fascist constructs of billions in propaganda; from the preachers who cried faith to the politicians who cried freedom! They created crimes, he blamed the victims; because his were better and all but they were lesser.

With fear he fueled the wasting of liberty. With hate he became the mob that abused the poor, the prisoner and the immigrant. With pride he cheered the uniforms, the pageantry of force and the punishment of the dissenters. Then they came for him and the patriot who never was died slowly, laughing at the pain of those beside him and stoking the flames with his final breath as his demons told him fear was freedom and pulled him down to the gates of hell.
