Want to crack the viral code? Here are the keys to making content (or products) that generate self perpetuating interest.

Re-think the definition of “quality”.

You know you have to produce quality content. All the advice out there about going viral stresses the importance of this.

So why are we all not cranking out the quality and living in a sea of viral success?

Simple.

The term “quality content” is entirely subjective and entirely relevant.

Ask yourself, what is quality RELEVANT to what you are trying to achieve?

What does the specific audience expect and want from you?

You have a much better chance of making viral content if you re-examine that word “quality” in terms of exactly what you are doing.

Remember the Google Panda updates that essentially junked a lot of sites and content that had previously ranked well? That was a good reminder that "quality" was defined by Google and their search algorithm, if they change what they think quality is then you need to take notice.

Quality has a secondary purpose.

Quality, as we have now redefined it, has to please the audience you show it to.

It THEN has to prompt them to share it. Individuals enjoying content is one thing and can result in income but when your content gets shared things get really interesting.

Does your content possess the QUALITIES that make it something that will get passed around the platform you are dealing with?

Ditch Complexity.

A simple point. Viral content isn’t complex or over thought. Whatever form the content takes it’s usually always more of a statement than a question or discussion.

You need sharing not promotion.

Unless you have a large following self promotion is nearly useless. It’s going to come down to individuals with a HUGE following sharing your content that generates interest in it.

It’s the people with the large accounts or audiences that you have to impress.

It’s far more worthwhile to spend extra time understanding and incorporating this than spamming the heck out of an unresponsive internet.

On most platforms especially when it comes to viral content it’s not what you’ve said or done that matters ….. it is WHO else SAYS WHAT about it. Focus on getting people to talk about your work, rather than simply making it, and you’ll be onto a viral winner.

Give it a go!
