SLUG (5-minute Freewrite)

Salt crystals fell like snowflakes onto the warm concrete sidewalk. The little girl was cautious with her reserves. The last wasted shaker of Morton's had earned her a swap across the bottom. Her mother was still enraged, and her rear end was still sore.
She found this container of bitter grains behind a restaurant. It was crushed on one side where the cardboard had fallen or been smashed against something hard. When she saw it her eyes lit up with delight.
Now, here she sat, on the warm pavement with the sun beating down. Spring was her favorite time of year. But not for the usual reasons people rattled off when they were asked.
In fact, she liked Spring most because of all the frail life it delivered her.
Another slug emerged from the cool damp grass. The soft rain last evening fattened them up and sent them out looking for adventure. She was happy to oblige.
The little girl tipped her large vessel to the side and poured a torrent onto the waving tentacles of the unsuspecting creature.
