An Ode to the Daylight Hours | Five Minute Freewrite
good morning, sunshine
awaken the songbirds
put to rest the beasts
strike the chord
of harmonic today
engulf the soul
in ten thousand beams
of persuasive heat
radiating upon the present
let all moments pass
too slowly to miss
emerge unfettered
into an ever now
an ode to the daylight hours, and how they faithfully renew for us each day
Thank you @mariannewest for today’s (and every day’s) #freewrite prompt. Five minute freewriting exercises jumpstarted my blog on Steemit and are the cornerstone I return to in my writing career.
I’ve challenged myself to complete a five minute freewrite every day for a week. And after that, a month. And after that, who knows?
As much as it terrifies me to commit to this type of creative output (consistently!), I know it will make me a stronger creative. I did not want to share today’s poem (!!!) at all, but I’m going to stick with my word and challenge myself to some healthy, awkward, disciplined growth.
Slightly inspired by @damianjayclay who professed that writing to a daily quota adds up invaluably over time. Mine is a slightly different interpretation, but nonetheless grateful to be surrounded by fellow wordsmiths.

Hi, I'm Amelia! It's nice to meet you.
I'm a writer, minimalist, tiny home dweller, and maker living in East Tennessee, USA. You might have found me through the Ladies of Steemit curation initiative, showcasing the female voices on the Steemit platform. Let's hang out on the blockchain and see where it takes us.

@ameliabartlett you were flagged by a worthless gang of trolls, so, I gave you an upvote to counteract it! Enjoy!!
Yay! Thank you! I noticed the three flags and was dismayed. So grateful there are folks like you out there to combat those trolls.
Beautiful words.
Thank you 🙏🏼
