The unsuspecting house-sitter - Freewrite
Entry 28
Jo wakes up groggy. Monday morning's are never for the faint of heart. A whole week of work lays ahead. Another 4 monrings of waking up groggy in the near future of Jo's world.
She slips on her slippers at the base of her queen bed and drudges down to the coffee machine. Half baked sleep still siting under her eye sockets as the whir of the machine accelerates. The torque of sound elevating and elevating until, plonk. The first drops of liquid caffeine enter her "best girlfriend ever" coffee mug.
The rest of her morning goes by as usual. Peanut butter on toast with a banana. Looking at her social feeds, chuckling here and there as she catches up on snapchats and facebook videos from the 48 hours before.
She returns to her room. Chucking on the sports blazer and white shirt. A classic go to Monday get up.
Heading down the stairs all she needs are her shoes to complete the look. The "office girl chique". She enters her toes into her black flats. However things feel a little different this time. The big toe of her right foot is feeling some resistance and she tries to put on her shoe. And then she see's it. The eight red eyes staring back at her.
Jo jumps back as a spider pops out of her shoe.
'Hey Lady! I'm trying to sleep here!'
Jo perplexed looks back at the spider that is hanging slighlty out of her shoe. She rubs her eyes first, then rubs her ears. Surely she can't of just heard a spider speak.
'Yes I speak, and yes this is now my home. I'm a redback spider and I have fangs that will put you in some serious pain.'
Jo feels faint.
'Look I think you're going to have to find some different shoes to wear today lady. That's just how it's going to be', the spider continues.
Jo goes back upstairs to find a new pair of shoes. As she walks back downstairs she notices her old shoes gone. The spider must have taken them. But how? How could a redback carry a shoe?
This morning was unlike any other. Jo felt a little revitalised by the audacity of the spider, by the share weirdness of it all.
She unlocked the front door and proceeded to leave, when she saw her shoe, and a note.
'Sorry for being a dick. I realised I was house sitting and you just startled me. I was going to leave with your shoe but then realised more of it. Here it is back, they'll look better on you than me'.
'.....How the fuck did a spider just write that?'
#Freewrite
Every now and again I write for 5 minutes continuously and do not stop until the timer runs out. What you read is a stream of words coming out all at once. No editing, no worrying. I find this creates amazing stories as you just have to let the words take you, rather than force them out. Enjoy.
Shoe... This is the prompt I did for my first freewrite. 😉
Thank you for freewriting with us! Here's the prompt:- Day 380 : 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: sponge.
Thanks again! With love and hugs.
