5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: Elephant
She turned on the television so the evening news could play while she set about her task.
Frail fingers unfolded the newspaper surrounding the tiny figurines. Some misguided fool might call them knickknacks, but to her they were far from worthless. Each one represented a special event or turning point in her life. She unwrapped the first one. It was a tiny monkey. Not those silly little monkeys that cover their eyes, ears, or mouth, no, this was a happy monkey with its mouth agape, perhaps in the middle of a cheerful call. She placed it upon the shelf and removed another paper covered object from the trunk. She sighed, moving was a bother, but it did have its little perks, and she sighed contentedly as she reached back into the trunk.
The newscaster came on and read off a list of frightful topics, including a piece on household products that were actually dangerous and then cut to the weather.
The next figure was an owl. Regal and majestic, but also posed in preparation for flight. She pulled out, unwrapped, and placed several more on the shelf. As much as she enjoyed moving these little trophies to a new home, she hoped she wouldn't need to move again for a while.
The next news segment featured an as of yet uncaught murderer that had claimed another victim. Police weren't officially linking it to a bizarre string of previous murders, some of which separated by years, but they weren't ruling it out yet as they had found a small elephant shaped knickknack at the scene.
She sighed again, this time less content at the awful slander the media was paying those adorable little figurines, but it did remind her she had a new one to add to her collection, so that made her happy again.

Is she a serial killer?
I'm not saying she is or she isn't, but I'd be careful about how you talk about her figurines.
Weren`t the original figurines in a box of tea? Sounds like food for thought.
I am the ghost of Christmas Past which is why I'm late delivering today's freewrite prompt!
