Where is Everybody? Freewrite
This is a piece I wrote for @mariannewest's #freewrite. The prompt was hummingbird flower. At first I was stumped. Then I thought of being the flower. That worked for me. I hope you are entertained. It was fun to write.
I don't know what else I can do. I've opened my petals. I'm exuding my most powerful fragrance. And yet they pass by. There, to my right, the daffodils are covered in butterflies. To my left, the dandelions, buried in a cloud of buzzing, nectar-starved bees. And here I remain.
Alone.
What can I do? Let me spray a little more of my essence. There. That purple vision, that glorious butterfly.
I think. Yes. It is distracted. It senses me.
Here I am! Hello!
Spray more essence.
Ah. Finally. The butterfly drinks. Oh, look. A gorgeous yellow creature has noticed the activity at my nectar font. Here it comes.
Oh, more. They're fluttering. They're surrounding me.
I have realized my purpose.
