Freewrite Prompt: Awakening
The children stopped short, peering closely into the cave. "I think it's safe, it's just a cave." he told his two friends as they looked at him like he'd lost his mind.
"Don't be a baby" they taunted the younger boy, as the older two ran into the dark, damp interior. He wasn't a baby, he'd show them. He rushed in, and almost fell on the slick shale that marked the entrance. He'd never seen such a place like this before. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he could make out a small, almost hallway like entrance in the back. His friends had already started down into the unknown.
"Guys wait up!" he screamed as he rushed to catch up. Still trying to 'not be a baby'. What waited for them was anything but normal, and apparently screaming down the hallway was not something he should have done.
Pods. Pods everywhere. Pods of what? Who knows, but they had been started by the yelling, they were wiggling, moving, awakening....

I guess I would either be one of the things in the pods, or a corpse in the cave :P

This is an awesome hook for a story.
It's very well written, nice sentences structure, lean. I don't know why but It reminds me of "stranger things" or even "It" .. waiting for episode 2!

Great story! I agree with @mkkenny13, you should consider developing the story a bit more. :-)
Interesting take on the "awakening" prompt, just curious about what your process is like? Are you the type that puts a lot of thought into it and slowly form your story? or do you write the first thing that comes into your head?
I'm definitely the latter, but then I end up becoming a slave to the story and unable to think of anything else!

I pretty much write the first thing that pops into my head, I read "awakening" and all I could think about were pod people lol I might get slightly obsessed, but I'm also terrible at trying to come up with endings lol
