The Adventures Of Brior'Ador Part 2 - 5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: rainbow

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

Brior’ador stared at the light blue gelatins mass, not very sure what to do. It didn’t move very fast; just an inch at a time. It jiggled it’s translucent girth, making Ri either want to laugh or puke, then lurched forward, moving slowly but surely in his direction. Ri struggled against the sticky slime, pulling with all his might. He ignored the pain in his back that was caused by the deadly slap from the monster. He’d fought Ruby and Voltaic gels before on higher levels closer to the town, Grove. But they just didn’t compare to a Topaz Gel.

Ri wasn’t getting anywhere, so he changed tactics. Instead of pushing with his arms and legs to free his torso, he tried freeing his arms. It was a desperate move, but then again he was desperate. Then with a sickening shllluuuuuckkk!!!, his arms came free. Pulling them above his head, he wove intricate patterns in the air while muttering strange words.

Static made Ri’s hair stand on end. The smell of ozone filled the room. Light danced around his fingers. Then a ball of purple-white lightning shot from his hands, then toward the gel. When the lightning made contact with the ooze, it seemed to, kind of, swallow it. But since it was transparent, Ri could see the lightning inside of the Topaz, making it light up in a rainbow of colors. Then the glow was gone. and it lurched forward again.

Uh-oh, Ri thought. He reached up and grabbed the tapestry, then yanked. The brackets came free and the cloth fell to the ground in front of Ri. The tapestry stuck to the slime and, with much better leverage, Ri pulled. Instead of pushing straight up, he tried to pull himself across the slime and onto the tapestry . It worked. Standing up, he waved his hands again in the air. Green lights covered over his arms, then a blue ring appeared in front of him. Without hesitating, he stepped into it.

I am glad that he wasn't dead!! This story is coming along nicely - apparently slime and quicksand are similar :)

I'm glad too that he isn't dead! It would make writing future adventures a little hard... haha

Excellent point! A ghost only takes you so far on a hero’s story 😂

Very descriptive :) I particularly liked the bit where the lightning was swallowed by the oozey slime thing. I almost expected it to expand inside the belly and explode from the inside out! You did a good job at changing direction and offering the unexpected with the small portal summoning. :)
