Premier League Fantasy Tip #9

As a writer of @acidyo Steemit Fantasy League, I decided to start a series of tips. Tips to hopefully improve my own and your rank in the Steemit League, as well as the overall standing.

This weeks tip is about goalkeepers. Except De Gea, I am not sure it's worth it having a goalkeeper from the top 4 clubs. If you take a look at the points scored by the goalkeepers this season it's almost as close as it gets. Courtois has scored 99 points and Lloris 83 points. In between these two, are eight other keepers. It's very close. In between are keepers like Fabianski, Pope, and Ryan. Goalkeepers playing for lower ranked teams. These guys are a lot cheaper, but taking into consideration that they are 0.7-1m£ cheaper, and score almost the same amount of points, we must ask our self: Are having Courtois, De Gea, Lloris worth it? I would say, no.

This weeks tip is, of course, a goalkeeper, and his name is Adrian. Ever since Joe Hart was forced to the bench, Adrian has been West Hams first choice. Adrian has not made that many points lately, but he has a great chance of doing so in the coming fixtures. Take a look:

Three home games in the coming four, with the away match being against Brighton. Great chance of at least two clean sheets. Adrian is priced at 4.4m£ which is extremely cheap. I don't think you can get a keeper that cheap with same chances of getting a clean sheet at the moment. It's not only clean sheet, but bonus points as well. Goalkeepers form these clubs have a tendency to score more bonus points as they have more shots coming, and therefore, make more saves. As an example, Courtois has made two bonus points while Pope has made 12.

Will Adrian be on your team?

Sort:

Good shout on Adrian. And I completely agree with not spending on premium GK apart from De Gea.

I would say Pope is also an excellent option, albeit slightly more expensive than Adrian at his current price. Burnley is turning out to be a pretty decent defensive team and gives the added bonus of clean sheets that match top sides.

The only thing to be on a lookout for is the return of Heaton who would probably send Pope to the bench when he is fully fit. Although one might suggest that simply replacing Pope with Heaton would be the best choice Heaton is currently priced .1m cheaper than Pope.

Keep the tips coming :)

Good tip friend, I like to have goalkeepers from any of the big clubs, in my team I have D Gea which I think is one of the best options taking into account that is the goalkeeper with the highest score, having goalkeepers of the great clubs there are always great chances of getting clean sheet or bonus, it is true that Adrian for the next game is likely to get many points but for the next matches is not known, I prefer to have a goalkeeper of some great club throughout the season and concentrate the changes of any of the other field players.

A stat to get the discussion going: out of all the forwards in the entire game only Kane (£13.0m, 147 points) has scored more than de Gea (£5.9m, 121 points)! I know it's comparing two different positions entirely, but still, I thought it was pretty interesting haha. I don't own de Gea myself, and probably won't be transferring him in, but I definitely do wish I had him from the start.

Interesting. Dea Gea is the only one I think is a great buy from the top 6 clubs.

What's your opinion on putting Alexis Sanchez in your team?

It breaks my heart that he's leaving Arsenal but wherever he's gonna go, he's probably gonna be fantastic.

I would not put him in my team, until his situation is sorted out, and even then I am not sure he will be worth it.

Hi @arsenal49, is your steemit soccer discord channel still accepting new members? If yes, how can I be part of it?

Sure! I'm not really using it, but here you go: https://discord.gg/dGjrPZ

Thank you very much. I just joined and messaged you.

Will you be chanced to check it out or should I post my enquiry here? It's kind of private though.

happy to read this post😊😊😊

It's always worth to have a GK behind a solid defence and that's the advantage of ManU: a reliable defense providing De Gea with cover and helping his points tally. We can't say the same about Adrian, how good he may be. However, if the point is to save some cash for more buys... I'd go for the pair Hennessey/Speroni from Crystal Palace.

Haven't looked into Hennessey/Speroni, but Palace sure has been in great form lately. What keepers do you have?

Well, that's ridiculous: Eliot from Newcastle and Forster from Southampton, and it's been two gameweeks neither of them are playing... :-/ So I'm without GK points lately and waiting to see if either one will be playing again or get rid of them with my wildcard.

Keep your wildcard, will be really important later in the season when the double gameweeks start happening! Just swap one of your goalkeepers for Pope or someone else.

I'm afraid there won't be so many double gameweeks this season. But yeah Pope is in my mind.

It all depends on how far the english team gets in the Champions League. I think we will see a lot of double game weeks actually.

Your tips are always an exception. Your goal is to be a good keeper, thanks to me, a tip to share with us.
