MORE FUN CHORES ON THE HOMESTEAD
Feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs can be a lot of fun!
In some ways, animals on the homestead are kind of like pets. You have to feed them, water them, and make sure that they are safe and warm. Much like pets, they are a lot of fun to interact with, and we enjoy that too! However, when the animals give you gifts like milk or eggs, it's all the more enjoyable!
Soon these eggs will provide a tasty breakfast for our family. Every day we are blessed with at least some eggs, and things are starting to pick up now that the weather is a little warmer. In about a month, we will probably skip a few egg breakfasts and hatch out our next generation of chicks! That is really exciting!
Most of the time we do not hand feed our poultry. To keep them friendly though, we do every once in a while. Today was one of those times!
The chickens are the ones that we have had the longest, so they are most eager to greet us when we show up with food. The Muscovy ducks are pretty friendly too, and the Guinea Fowl were off somewhere else doing whatever it is that they do.
Here are a few photos of our rooster eating out of Pinkie-Pepper's hand. We lost our old rooster to a hawk earlier this winter, but thankfully we hatched one out last year! We never knew that he'd come in so handy. @Papa-pepper had a bit of fun photographing it, so here are a few photos of him.
Yes, animals can be a lot of work, but we enjoy it. This lifestyle may not be for everyone, but we are glad that we get to enjoy it. Thanks for checking us out once again!

from the size of the smile that is a very pleasant job. It is good to see you enjoying your tasks so much.
Remember, if you really enjoy what you are doing you won't have to Work, just have fun.
Yeah, that's the only way to get the meat out of them....
nice post. that so happy.
You are doing a fantastic job learning all you can from your dad and taking wonderful care of your animals. :D I love your beautiful smiles in these pictures. :D Great close-ups of the chickens eating out of your hands. :D
God bless you all @little-peppers. :D Have an awesome day! :D
Your rooster died fighting a hawk? Respect! How do you normally defend the hens from hawks? Do you have a covered area they normally stay in?
Normally the hawks steer clear. In winter, though, food is more scarce.
I absolutely love your chickens!♥ we have some our selves!♥
Thanks you so much resteemit..
