PROJECT LAB: Setting Up A Science Laboratory for Our School (UPDATE 02)

"A BETTER LEARNING"- This is what we are aiming for.

For about 8 years that I have been in the teaching field, I have seen and met different kinds of learners. There are some who are considered as FL (fast learners) but most of the time, I am handling the AL (average learners) and the SL(slow learners).

Teaching SCIENCE with these varied learners sometimes can be fun but most of the time it has been so challenging. Problems arise when lack of materials and other resources come in. How would the teacher be able to teach the pupils effectively when there are no materials needed are present in the classroom? Many people might question what the government is doing to address these kinds of problems. But as you can see, more and bigger problems are what the government is focusing right now. One of which is building more learning environment and hiring more teachers. So these kinds of problems like the lack of materials needed in a classroom is unlikely to be addressed upon immediately. Now, the challenge is given to the teachers.

That is the reason why I keep on looking for ways on how I would be able to help my learners achieve better learning. I love teaching the kids so I want them to learn, learn and learn better. So, these led me to ask for a crowdfunding here in @fundition.

Project LAB aims to raise enough funds to set up Science Laboratory in San Miguel Central School, San Miguel, Leyte, Philippines. It has a goal of providing the class with the necessary equipment to achieve better learning among the pupils. Laboratory activities are necessary to provide hands-on experiences with the learners, thus making their learning much more fun and meaningful.

In bahalf of San Miguel Central School, we are so thankful that @fundition was able to approve my PROJECT LAB. This initiative can be very helpful with regards to the teaching-learning process among both the teachers and the learners. Having the necessary equipment in a Science Class would mean better learning among pupils mainly because they would be able to have hands-on experiences which would hold the saying "LEARNING BY DOING" true and effective.

I actually relayed to my school head and my co-teachers about this approved project because as much as possible, I wanted everything to be clear and transparent to all. Eventhough my dreams of having this PROJECT LAB has still a long way to run and be realized, I am still offering my best efforts of promoting my project to other people especially in the online world and I am positive I would be able to reach my goal of course with the help of good people here in @fundition.

These are some children of San Miguel Central School. Some are from Grade 3 class and Grade 4 class which would benefit the project since Science subject is being taught starting from Grade 3 to Grade 6.

These are some of the teachers of San Miguel Central School.. I am also glad that they are supporting my campaign.

As you can see, they were so happy just hearing the news. How much more if they are given the opportunity to receive PROJECT LAB?

As for me, I am currently attending a Science training for Grade Four Teachers which started last June 23, 2018 and will end at July 4, 2018. I am so glad to be a part of this training because I am learning a lot. I am also so excited to be able to pass on my learning here to my pupils when I go back to school.

As you can see in the pictures, we are doing hands-on activities in Science. But if you can notice, we just had some commonly used materials which are easily found in the house or in the community. In place of beakers, we just used plastic jars used for observation liquids, sometimes we only use plastic cups because we do not have any instruments in school. Now the problem would rise when we talk more about matter such as melting and freezing liquids since we lack the necessary materials to make the pupils learn better, not just by watching videos and demonstrations but with their own experience inside the classroom. This condition also happens inside our respective classes.

Another thing is I would also like to provide my kids with long tables and chairs which will be used in conducting their activities and experiments. I hope I could also provide even just 4 long tables for my laboratory.

Anyways, this will only be possible with the help of generous people here in @fundition and the @steemit world.

Another good news:

Because of my efforts in improving the learning performance of my kids, I was also chosen to be a recipient for a brand new tv which is way bigger than what I have now. With this, I am sure I could make the learning if my school kids more fun. I am excited to see and open the box but I am not yet in school so I still have to wait for a couple of days before I could finally meet my new aid in teaching Science, my brand new TV. 😘😘
