RE: Week 21 of [Mission: Agua-Possible] - Your support will bring water to a devastated Venezuelan neighborhood!
The vast majority of posts on the trending tab are simply self-upvoted promotions through the paid services of bid-bots.
If you see a post paying out $300, the author could have lost money because vote-selling services take a cut for themselves.
I think a lot of people will be asking themselves:
Why am I not giving @edgargonzalez Steem directly?
Why are we waiting for the full amount to clear?
Hold the donation hat out to a bunch of people who write about rampant corruption and conspiracy theory... probably won't get very far.
Also, the timing is terrible. It's a hard pill to swallow: tipping someone knowing full well that inflation is going to drain liquidity on an exchange and lower the value of Steem even more. These last few months have been a terrible time to sell.
Hopefully the price bumps up and people get a little more charitable.
Yes, funny how if the price went up, people would be more inclined to give it away. While it's cheap right now, they're hanging on to it. Human psychology is a strange thing!
As for giving money directly to Edgar, many people have! He has received direct donations, many new followers, regular upvotes on all his posts, and even gifts in the mail (like a new fishing rod and equipment).
Mission: Agua-Possible isn't a replacement for any of that, but something additional. I'm certainly not asking anyone to stop helping Edgar and other needy people directly.
"Why are we waiting for the full amount to clear?"
Because that is how I set it up from the beginning, and doing something different with the funds part way through would rightly cause an uproar. I had hoped people would pitch in and make the 1300 happen immediately (check out the original post if you haven't yet). When it didn't happen immediately, I put up a 2nd thread. And so on. Changing the plans for the funds now would have to be undertaken carefully and with public consultation.
I'd totally rather help the guy out with votes. Personally it's more about you than helping someone. And really not something I'm going to vote o share.
But I'm voting the guy actually in need. Which reminds me to wander to his post and throw some love.
Sure you are getting help for him. But promoting yourself as a saint isn't really honest. You have burned a few people. Maybe make things right and stop being abusive to others?. An apology can't be forced or demanded but if they are offered up freely? Might help get some friends back.
Anyways just my thought. May you be well and best of luck.
