Incredible. Banksy, the world's most famous Street Artist, has apparently pulled a prank on his own painting.

The famous painting Girl With a Balloon was sold in auction for over a million €. As soon as it was sold, an imbeded shredder on the frame started destroying the piece.
I can't imagine the face of the guy who bought it when it happened. He probably got a stroke. I know I would.

It's almost considered performance art. His team bid on it, so they didn't stop bidding until they were sure they'd won. When they declared a winner he shredded it. So NOW you can probably buy the piece that was shredded for twice as much as the original. I'm still digesting it.

So the contraption was supposedly made in 2006? Meaning that the frame has been listening to some remote control signals for 12 years, it has had built-in razor blades and a battery bank to drive it (and the radio signal receiver), must have been rather heavy - and nobody has noticed it until now? It does sound rather unlikely to me.
It sure is strange. I bet they hacked the place to insert this contraption just a night or two before. Bansky and his pals are crazy enough for that.
I find that very hard to believe. If someone finds how they did it, let me know. I love illusion tricks! 😊
