Exploring Ghana,this week's edition comes with the old fun games almost forgotten about by Ghanaians.

Gone in the days every Ghanaian child has so much interest in learning and to play the local games. Aside it being fun and bringing socialization among people, it also have great lessons of which everyone engaged in it gets to learn. Some popular ones i know includes

Oware

This is a game was mostly played by royals as it was known back in the years but now everyone else plays "oware" in homes, schools and everywhere. In playing this game successfully one needs to be very strategic especially in counting. This game actually makes one a life problem solver just as compared to chess playing.

"Ampe"

As seen playing by girls meaning a game meant for girls to play. They do great number of counting with probabilities unconsciously mathematics in statistics plays some part here also. Every girl in Ghana enjoys playing "ampe". Girls get to exercise their bodies, kill boredom and socialize as well.

"Chaskele"

Most finest among let me put it that way. You only dare to play this game when you are a good thrower.

All these games used to be fun and educational in terms of moral upbringing of children. But as the saying goes change is the only permanent thing.

Though technology has done so great in changing society but it has also ruined alot of fun systems.

Kids no longer observe outdoor games but rather prefer staying indoors to play.
The play station serving well as well as the PC games.

Though all the fun and socializing in playing around in the community is gone but the blame actually can't be put on technology also.

Leaving your child to play alone outside the house is no more safe. Kidnapping of children has increased rampantly therefore no parent would like to risk their wards safety.
Drugs peddling on the street has totally eraded the freedom of every child to play outside the house.

So what do we do then. Stay indoors and play games all day and night? Well according to researchers graphics game playing increases IQ but never improves on EQs.
All things being equal if bad attitudes had not aroused by people in the society all the good old things could have still been in the system.
