[KUNG FU ALL-STAR] This FATAL programming flaw from the Dev will cost people A LOT OF MONEY!!
If you've been playing KUNGFU ALL-STAR (Android/iOS) in the last couple of months, chances are you're familiar with one peculiar upgrade system for your characters: the HEXAGRAMS. At first I only upgrade once a day, just to complete the Hexagrams mission (+100 EXP value). But a few days ago, as I went deeper into the feature, I found a FATAL programming flaw in it. "Fatal", as in completely misleading and people will get furious when they found out.
So where is it? Actually it's easy to spot on, if you know where to look. Let me show you screenshot by screenshot.
- When you have assigned a Martial Artist to manage his/her Hexagrams, tap on one of the Hexagram square. The description box (just below Hexagram's EXP) will explain the Pure Hexagram effect that will take place when you assign 2 or 4 same Hexagram to a Martial Artist. For example, when you tap on a RED Hexagram (HuoLi), here's what you'll see:
Pure 2: Strength damage +6~33%
Pure 4: 7-16% to regain 6% Grudge
Nothing wrong with that, huh?
- Well, wait until you tap on the zoom/magnifier button on the Pure Hexagrams description box. There, instead of above explanation, you'll get a completely different write-ups on the Hexagram's effect.
Here's what the essay tells us about RED Hexagram (HuoLi):
Pure 2: Weapon damage +1~6%
Pure 4: Weapon damage +6~33%
Helloooo..?? Why the difference?
As a self-taught programmer myself, I know it for a fact that a "condition selector" (an "if" or "select case" statement) will only execute ONE command when ONE condition is met. There can't be any ambiguity in a clean code.
Table A or Table B?
Now have a look at the following comparison I have made (Table A vs Table B), showing all the difference in one place:
Table A: The full write-ups when you click on the zoom/magnifier button
Table B: The description you get when tapping on any Hexagram (below EXP)
Which one is the one, true attributes to Pure Hexagrams?
I hope this post serves as a call-out to the Dev Team at Jollity (the creator of KUNG FU ALL-STAR) and they would fix the code anytime soon. We, as paying players, would all be hesitating to do Hexagram upgrades if there is no certainty on the effect it brings to the Martial Artists. Thank you.
P.S. I'll pass this post to Jollity dev team on Facebook. When I get reply, I'll update it here.
P.P.S. Anyone care to explain what Grudge and Grudge Reduction is? I really have no clue!
