PERFORMANCE MODE INCREASES THE FRAME RATE IN FORTNITE ON PC
ACCELERATED LOADING. IMPROVED PERFORMANCE. USERS OF OLDER COMPUTERS HAVE ACCESS TO A NEW OPTION FOR PLAYING FORTNITE.
The alpha version of the Performance mode is now available to users of computers that meet the minimum requirements of Fortnite. You can enable it in the in-game options menu. The "performance" mode will significantly improve performance, as well as reduce the consumption of RAM and the load on the processor and video card due to the deterioration of image quality. Thanks to this mode, users who play at low parameter values or on less powerful computers will have a better game performance than before, and the frame change will become more stable.
The "performance" mode in the "Advanced Graphics Settings".
Performance mode is available to most players and only works in Battle Royale and Creative Mode. The performance mode can be enabled or disabled at any time in the in-game settings menu, after which you will need to restart the game.
Warning: When Performance mode is enabled, the Battle with the Storm campaign is not available. Performance mode on the PC is also not available for GeForce Now users.
SAVE HARD DISK SPACE
Players can also opt out of high-resolution textures. You can do this on the installation settings page in the Epic Games launcher. Follow these instructions:
- Open the Epic Games launcher.
- Select Library.
- Click on the three dots next to Fortnite.
- Select "Options".
- Uncheck the box next to the "High Resolution Textures"option.
About 14 GB of high-resolution content will be removed from the game files, so the final size of the game will be only 18 GB without all the additional components. For users who play at low parameter values or with low resolution, this will free up a lot of disk space at the expense of a small deterioration in image quality!
RECOMMENDED HARDWARE
While Performance Mode offers improvements for all players who opt in, there are certain hardware requirements that can offer a significantly smoother experience. For players on older machines, having the game run from an SSD or providing at least 6 GB of RAM allows the game to better fit in memory and reduce overall hitches and stutters. A dedicated GPU is not required but will help balance system load and give a much smoother experience.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Performance Mode is made possible by lowering in-game visual quality to increase frame rate and is a great way for players to hop in and experience the game as long as they meet the Fortnite system requirements. Along with the option to uninstall high resolution textures, players can now get in quicker than ever before and still enjoy the game as intended.
Below are a couple examples of the typical FPS values seen by laptops running with the standard low scalability mode in a Squads match, compared to the same match running in Performance Mode using 720p during both runs.
Performance Mode with high-resolution textures disabled at 720p.
