PS4 gets hacked for homebrew software and PS2 emulation.
Finally the biggest hack for PlayStation 4 is here , now enterprising owners can do install Linux and run their own games.
Cool ain't it ? :-)
But the hack works on consoles that run on PS4's 4.05 firmware. The firmware has its date to be 2016
so it means if you have a PS4 sitting there which is not plugged and has been in the closet since 2016, things just got better for you!
Along with the home-brew efforts of installing cracked copies of PS4 games , developers have completely reversed engineered PS2 classics for PS4 titles , that has resulted in an install-able wrapper that users can use to put almost any PS2 game.
For now, given that there are so few consoles that can actually run the hack, this is more like an interesting note than an indication of a rampant wave of homebrew hacking and piracy in the PS4 immediate.
But later if there is hack able to run on modern firmware , then clearly shows that there is plenty of folks out there circumventing Sonys store.
