I made an account for my son and by the time he got an explorer the first one crashed and his sector looks pretty much like this. So the first explores are already squared away. Absolutely pointless to continue yet took well over a month to even get to an explorer. He quit the first day it was so boring I just been upgrading for him so he can at least do the explorer.
What a disaster.
Oh dear - it's saying something that the only comfort (not joy) I've got from the game is hearing that I'm not the only one having a crap time!
I'm thinking The Plague is quite a good analogy for this game - 30-50% of players suffer and then die (quit).
Although that's a bit unfair to The Plague, that only led to around 10 days of suffering before death, and the attrition rate for @nextcolony could well be higher.
I would do a negative post, but it's easier to just let it go and focus on better things!
Look at this nonsense, my planet is in the middle.
First explorer mission explored very bottom square because the closest ones were already explored, and guess what, explorer crashed. So have to wait other 8 hours, plus the time to build up resources. By the time it's done, the guy will explore another line below the planet and will be starting 4 blocks out.
Spent a month of pressing upgrade a couple of times a day to have this nonsense, and even when you get there it is still boring af.
I really couldn't believe it when I found out (only just recently) that if a space is explored by one person then that's it for everyone, so if you're near someone else who explores all around your planet before you can then you basically can never do anything. I just can't imagine any scenario where that makes sense.

Very poorly designed, my son's account is basically trash now. Spent 10 Steem and over 1 month of time upgrading to just get to explorer point and most of the sector is explored and they exploring under the planet faster than he can, so the first explorations are already taking 2-3 times longer just starting out. Not to mention first explorer blew up. So the shortest exploration is 6 hours after waiting another 12 hours for a new ship and spending all resources to replace it.
When you do all that, there is still nothing to do, just start clicking buttons again.
Now they are banning and censoring users in their discord to prevent them from saying this. I said something about the game and the dev talked to me about it. So I just left a while ago.
The best part is when they started this "bounty" asking everyone to spend 90% of their Voting Power voting Next colony posts and paid them 25 Steem from the player fund (which has yet to be discussed how the measly 30% of income is going to even be distributed outside of these lame bounties). As far as I could tell it didn't matter if you had 10 SP or 10M SP, as long as you used 90% of your voting power.
All I can say is 'I feel your/ your son's pain' !
At least I'm enjoying a lot of other stuff on steem - just have to focus on that!
