TEMPLE RUN REVIEW
Almost everybody has in one way or the other played TEMPLE RUN at one point or the other, but for those that have not, and those that probably got too busy to play, here's an eye opener for you.
Just like every treasure hunt adventure movie has a specific scene in which a lucky hero finally gets his hand in the treasure, but after finding the treasure must navigate a maze of bait traps in order to live out.
This is the perfect description of Temple Run, it is the scene, nothing else.
It is amazing that it has excellent automatic treadmill Canabalt's strength, but with some extra twist and incredibly well suited subject that makes the game amazingly incredible.
The game starts the same:
you catch a mysterious object and then the chase starts.
A terrible monkey-like creature is always on your heels as you try to navigate a distorted maze of obstacles.
But the interesting part is that, Unlike most automatic treadmills, Temple Run is not a 2-D lateral wheel, but instead, a completely 3-D, and uses a third-person super shoulder camera.
The game is also a bit complicated.
Complicated in the sense that Temple Run is not a game of one or two buttons, but instead, it gives you some action that can be taken. Some of this actions include:
Sliding left and right on the screen - this will cause the chaser to change their direction and consider each move.
sliding up or down - this will allow you to either skip the obstacle or slide below it.
Tilt your phone back and forth - this option enables you to guide him off, while trying to collect the rich coins scattered around.
Just like a Canabalt so is Temple Run, you often feel that you are running, but then it doesnt feel like you just for running sake.
You Have this constant pressure if you mess up with those monkey monsters, then they will be there to catch you.
And in fact, if you trip over the roots, or repeat a little mistake, you will see them starting to suppress your heels.
This is inturn makes the game very intense
The 3-D visual effect in Temple Run is not comprehensive, but you may not notice that because you will be overspeed by most of the landscape.
The developer cleverly decided to focus on making the game run fast and smooth instead of filling it with unnecessary detail.
Between the visual effects in the game, betweenenu and the music, Temple Run can perfectly capture this adventure style you crave in an android game.
