Astonishing in-game art, polka, and more.

hJune Primitive-ish Soloing

I always prefer it when players impose their own rules. hJune aimed to do a run with primitive weapons, though I'm not sure the Double-Barreled Shotgun and Python are very primitive. I guess anything but an AK or M249 counts. Anyway, it's always fun to watch someone good just play the game for a bit.

That naked with the Beancan Grenade toss is a hero.

Art

A very random collection this week. Over on ArtStation, Vincent Le crafted a new gun idea. This is his AS VAL style rifle.

On Medium, of all places, Glenn McComb took a crack at re-doing our server browser interface. Not the most glamorous of things to have an opinion about, but he did good work, adding filters and making a nice use of space.

Lasrig piled together all his 3D prints so far.

Those tiny furnaces are adorable.

Grizzly Solo Survival

I seem to be drawn to low-key solo survival stuff at the moment. Maybe because I'm shy? Anyway, Grizzly's are always somewhat relaxing, so the first part of his solo jaunt is chill, and he's good at the game. The worst part? He always forgets to turn off Steam friend announcements...

That was a busy first day. Want to see the opposite of what he just did? Here he tries the game out with a PS4 controller...

That was rather painful.

Mod Spot: Drawbridges

An almost certainly irregular look at recent (and decent) mod developments. This week there's Colon Blow's Drawbridges 2.0, turning our typically flat floors into moveable, slanty wonders. I like how he's made them so they can link together, creating the potential for puzzles.

Impressive work. You can also laggily launch cars off them, which could really expand the possibilities when it works better.

Polka!

This is one of those things that could easily have slotted into the "And Finally..." section, but it's almost too impressive. TenshiH plays Ievan Polkka on Rust's guitars. There's some flickering frames in this video if you're sensitive to that.

Ace of Base

Once again, the people at Corrosion Hour have done a stellar job at capturing the huge amount of bases that popped up on their server. It's a lot of work. Here's a tiny sample of them.

I found this shop on the EU Staging Branch and loved its use of signs with the postbox.

I'd shop there. Finally, Broccoli's base made me laugh.

"I spent it all on signs." - fucking lol.

Xtab's Skin Picks

I looked through the recent grab bag of skins Xtab uncovered and came away with one thought: nipples.

That thought again: nipples.

And Finally...

Life finds a way.

Get in Touch

Think you're working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Share your base designs, show off a game-mode from your server, or have you done a cool thing with Code Locks and Vending Machines?

There's a dedicated forum, or you can fish for upvotes in the sub reddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I'm on there as well.
