Upcoming FPS PSVR game - Firewall: Zero Hour - Going to change gaming entirely

in #gaming7 years ago

For anyone into gaming - particularly FPS games - Firewall: Zero Hour is an upcoming PSVR exclusive that is going to revolutionize gaming as a whole.

I've been an early adopter of VR systems. Starting with the first truly customer grade VR system Samsung's Gear VR. The gear VR was a great introduction to VR, albiet expensive. I bought it, along with the Samsung Galaxy S6 when they were first released. I'm sure I was one of the few people in Canada at the time to own one as I went out of my way (probably $200 out of my way) to get one shipped here, only to learn they were giving them out with the phones months later! GAAH. Anyways..

The Gear VR paired with a bluetooth controller was cool. It was nice to have the freedom of spinning in a computer chair, not having to worry about cables, but the luxury wore off fast due to the lack of good titles that the device could manage. Dreadhalls and Escape Velocity were probably the greatest hits of the time. All of the experiences I had only increased my desire to get on the PSVR - the most affordable, practical option for me as a PS4 owner and living on a student budget.

ENTER PSVR..
Now, I've tried damn near every worthy title on the PSVR so far, but my first experience in a FPS, with full locomotion and the new AIM controller was unlike anything I had tried so far. Prior to Farpoint, pretty well every shooter was on rails - just a tech demo!

In the beginning, Farpoint drops you off on a planet in an escape pod. This is probably the most immersive VR experience you'll ever get, going from the crazy graphics and scene inside an escape pod, opening up to a world that is completely reactive to your movement where your gun and body movements mimic reality, and you can look around, see your shadow (so immersive), and begin moving with full locomotion. This changed things.. No other game has matched this so far, and PC players do not have the luxury of having a controller like the Aim.

Then came the PVP update for farpoint. At this point, there had not been any other FPS titles of farpoint caliber to introduce PVP. I can tell you, the feeling of facing off against someone else is exhilirating - I played till my fingers were sore pulling the trigger.

It was around this time that Firewall: Zero Hour was revealed at PSX.

Firewall is to be the first true PVP FPS game to come out for PSVR, featuring aim support (I can't imagine playing with anything but the aim). I'm telling you now, being the most anticipated PSVR game for 2018, this game is going to change gaming moving forward.

It has been billed as Rainbow 6 Siege in VR, and many of its recently leaked features (link to a reddit post I made when they were leaked https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/8grupi/firewall_zero_hour_playstation_site_new_info/ ) back up this claim.

Two teams of three face off, one attacking, one defending. The goal is for the attackers to infiltrate an area and hack the computer. There are 12 selectable characters, each with different weapons that you can upgrade over time. Players earn experience, and you have a range of modes to choose from: SP, MP, COOP.

After playing farpoint PVP, knowing that this game is coming out, with 3v3 as opposed to 1v1, and all the features mentioned, I have a strong feeling that this will be the game the accelerates VR adoption exponentially, and I think the Aim will be one of the primary reasons for this.

Actually being able to hold the rifle, feel the weight of it, but also having superior tracking vs the move controllers, this game sets itself up for success by design. Until you experience being able to blind fire around corners, lean, crouch, and dodge in VR all while using the Aim, it's hard to really comprehend how immersive this can be.

Im dying for a release date over here, but based off the fact that they leaked all this info recently (refer to reddit post) and several countries' rating agencies had rated the game, I suspect we'll be getting a release date soon, if not at E3.

Check out this post for more info and watch some gameplay of this. Going to be UNREAL!
