Brawlstars - Supercell's latest hit mobile game Feb 10, 2019

After a year in a semi-closed beta, Supercell's newest mobile game, Brawlstars, debuted in December 2018. Having recorded over 5,000,000 pre-registers placed this app release as one of the most anticipated mobile games of 2018. Already it has seen huge financial success making over $63,000,000 in its inaugural month alone. Combining successeful elements of other popular games, Brawlstars feels a bit like if Disney made a Fortnite skin for Clash Royale.

The game boasts dozens of unique characters to play each with their own unique abilities (think League of Legends) and several different 3v3 game modes like Bounty (modified team death match), Smash and Grab (first to 10 treasures collected), Heist (plant the bomb from Counter Strike), and in keeping with the theme of most popular games released in 2018 a last person standing battle royale mode called Showdown. To help keep things fresh, additional game modes and dozens of new characters are planned to be released in the coming months.

This is not the most unique game of 2018, the most innovative, interactive, or even the one that people will be playing for years to come, but I am positive that it will still dominate the mobile gaming scene for most of 2019. If Supercell knows one thing, it's how to make a game that keeps you attention for a year or so until you hit the inevitable paywall. Will this one be the one worth spending some cash on to break into the top ranks, or will it fall by the wayside when they release their next annual blockbuster. I guess we'll find out toward the end of the year.
