Why did Battlefield 5 battle royale mode Firestorm fail ?
If you play the Battlefield series specifically Battlefield 5 you may have heard about a game mode called firestorm.
Firestorm is Battlefields take on the battle royale genre that pits players against each other and the last man standing is the winner. It's A genre that many game companies now include in their game due to the huge success of the genre.
However when DICE developed and added Firestorm in Battlefield 5 it didn't take long for it to be forgotten.
Today I will give my reasoning and facts to why the mode "failed".
THE OVERALL DEVELOPMENT
When Battlefield 5 was originally announced fans where already questioning the trailer the trailer didn't live up to its predecessor game Battlefield 1 furthermore fans questioned the vision of the game when the game trailers didn't depict a realistic World War 2 setting. Lastly fans didn't receive much info about the game EA and DICE didn't advertise and promote the game like they did with Battlefield 1 and overall the game didn't get as hyped up as it's predecessor. With that being said the game was very fun to play but the development and marketing of the game really damaged it's potential.
FIRESTORM WASN'T READY AT LAUNCH
Despite it being confirmed that there will be a battle royale mode they also stated that it wouldn't be ready at launch and didn't release until March 25 over 4 months since the game released.
NOT FREE 2 PLAY
Many battle royale games are free of course there are ones that are not free but the big battle royale games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends and the newer Call of Duty Warzone are free. With Battlefield 5 Firestorm not being free this holds many people back and the majority will consider playing the free 2 play options over firestorm.
NO UPDATES
Possibly the worst one on the list is that the game mode doesn't receive much attention from the development team this includes simple bug fixes to major updates the developers decided to release the mode and then focus on other things instead.
Overall I had great fun playing the game I liked it however it came to an end all too soon. It's difficult to find full games now and the player base is low. It is a real shame but I back DICE to learn from this.
This concludes my post.
