Best Cooling Solution for Gaming PC’s – Air or WatersteemCreated with Sketch.

Hey Guys today in this post im going to talk about how to cool your gaming system while gaming on it.
It is a very common problem as while we game sometimes our PC gets a lot hotter than expected, and if you want to play games on a very expensive gaming setup you should have a better coolingsolution for it, otherwise heating will damage the setup.

Cooling a gaming setup is necessary as in particular AMD’s high performance not to mention huge and hot 180 watts Threadripper CPU’s are pushing the limits of all tyoes of cooling systems in ways that we have never seen before. So what’s the solution for this.

Now we have the answer to that question……

For this purpose I chose 6 coolers, 3 liquid and 3 air coolers. For liquid coolers I used Corsair H series AIO’s, I have 180mm, 240mm, and 280mm radiator versions.

For Air cooler Im using Noctua NH series Fans to cool our systems.

I measured the temperature differences between the coolers themselves right out of the box. All this will be done on a AMD Thredripper 1950X in both Stock and Overclocked configurations. All the tests are taken in a condition of 25 degrees to 26 degree temperature so you can also get these results in your home also.

Starting off from our H80i GT and NH-U9 TR4 in stock condition and overclocked conditions the results were like this:-

The result was pretty OK with stock performance. On Overclocked conditions also the result was pretty decent. But market lowered package power for the H80i GT meaning that it is throtteling more to maintain same temperature. So, in this case, the light weight category air cooling comes with a clear victory.

Next up is H100i v2 and NH-U12s TR4:-

And again we see almost identical results in stock conditions. But in overclocked conditions NH-U12S TR4 gets a much narrower lead from the H100i v2. As far as package power goes they both are at same potential so in this case this will be considered as a draw.

Now coming to our main coolers which are both high-end and expensive. The best in class Noctua’s NH-U14S TR4 and Corsair’s H115i:-

The test was incredible and the result was that Noctua ran a few degrees cooler than the Corsair one. But performance is only part of the equation. Physical compatibility is another question are taken into considerations. Water cooler looks sexy and it’s becoming more and more common in small form factor cases to have mounts for there liquid coolers.
Now coming to the prices the Noctua even though they are not the cheapest coolers out there but come out ahead the Corsair water cooling equivalence by a significant margin.

So for the conclusion part if you are looking for a compact cooling system then you should opt for water cooling but if you have a room for better coolers Air cooling is still the best better and efficient and cheaper than water cooling.
But again it depends on you guys what you like and what fits on your conditions.
