Awesome Retro Games: Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future.

in #gaming6 years ago (edited)

"Street Fighter", the big tittle behind the most successful fighting games series of all time, created by Capcom and first launched in 1987 for the Arcades, "Street Fighter" started a new era in video games for the one versus one scene, other companies after noticing the great success Capcom did with this game, they wanted to create their own version of fighting games totally influence by Capcom's "Street Fighter" , like SNK with "Fatal Fury" and "Samurai Shodown", or Rare with "Killer Instinct", not having the same results, "Street Fighter" still dominating the world of fighting games.

This time we are going to talk especially about, his third release in 1999 of the "Street Fighter" series, called "Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future", the second follow-up to "Street Fighter III", following "Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact", even when the game was well receieved in all of its versions, "3rd Strike" was the final and the best result, adding 5 new characters and fixing/adjusting previous game play mechanics to make it more balance, with all this being said, lets me show you some of the aspects that make this incredible game, one original and an awesome retro game!

❂Amazing Art❂

Once you open the game you can see all kinds of awesome hand drawn models of the characters, flashing all over the screen, in a very artistic way, showing us the dedication that developers and designers put into this masterpiece, this "Ibuki" (A female character from Street Fighter) is clearly an example of what they wanted to show us in this particular introduction for the game.

Now in the character seleccion screen, we can see more of this art digitalized and colorized, wich gives the game a moderm touch, enjoyable for your eyes, makes you want to explore every character and look for the details, the mastermind behind this is Mr. Harumaru (ハルマル), who worked for multiple company's doing artworks, he worked with Capcom in-between 1998 and 2000, for the making of "Street Fighter III".

❂Characters Design❂

"Street Fighter III" seems to be ahead of its time compared to other games in terms of graphics, the way the characters moves in the game were not similar with other releases, here are some examples on how the sprites move in a very original flow:

• Elena:

• Makoto:

The secret is a huge amount of frames filled by a new sprite position, this requires tons of hard work and dedication, to put the different sprite in the correct frame location, making 2D graphics look realer than ever.

❂Special Moves & Attacks❂

When it comes to fighting games, people want to see martial arts, super powers and secret techniques, to use and defeat your opponent, luckily for us, "Street Fighter III 3rd Strike" has a very... very good arsenal, with original concepts of fighting and mechanics never seen before, including hidden supers attacks that requires a lot of practice to execute, here are a couple examples about what this game can offer to you:

❂New Game Mechanics & Parry❂

This is probably the most important thing about the "Street Fighter III" game series, the famous "Parry" and "Guard Parry" (Also known as "Red Parry"), a brand new mechanic that makes you able to block or divert any attack coming from your opponent, and that the same time, allows you to perform a counter attack after parry, opening a whole new world of possibilities, tactics, and setups include in your gameplay. To perform a parry it is required to press forward (or down, if it is a low attack) when making contact with the opponent's attack.

"Judgement System" is also something new that this game presents to us, a grade-based system in which the winning player in a single or two-player match is graded after the match ended based on offense, defense, techniques, and extra points, this only occurs when round time is over and both players have the same life remaining.

I almost lose my fingers playing this game haha, what memories ...

Dude, Akuma's stage is just HNNNG. I also fell like this game is the prettiest Street fighter we have gotten and we won't get anywhere like this again. I personally don't artistically like where the series is heading...
