The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Modded to hell
Do you remember Skyrim looking like this?
Probably not! The Elder Scrolls franchise has quite possibly the largest modding community to date, boasting thousands of mod creators, and the most extensive selection of mods to choose from. NexusMods offers just over 53000 files, which have had 1174.57 million downloads over the course of 6 years. Everyone has their own taste in mods, and unless you have the same exact combination of visuals, our games will look vastly different.
Not only is there a surplus in options for textures, there are mods that cater to lighting, weather effects, and even cubemaps, which determine how an object 'captures' reflections. Along side a decent 'ENB' (an in-game post processing tool), Skyrim has the potential to be visually amazing and stand alongside today's most graphically impressive games.
For those who aren't interested in the technical know-how, feel free to ignore whatever the hell I'm saying and skip to more of my screenshots. Enjoy!
Here's everyone's favourite city, Whiterun! (AKA the place where every lazy modder dumps their shit in) Looks a little bland though doesn't she, let's throw in a bit 'PC magic'.
"What about at night?" Look no further.

Skyrim's modding community is still going strong, leading Bethesda to release 'Skyrim Special Edition', a remastered version of the game, in an attempt to bring mods to the next-gen consoles. Special Edition is also available on PC, but everything you've seen so far is from the 'old' Skyrim. Why haven't I made the move yet? Skyrim SE only has about 7000 mods, and a very important one called 'SKSE', has not finished developing for it yet.
SKSE is a script extender, that enables authors to really push the limits of the creation engine. For example, here is the fully functional Couch Co-Op mod that allows you to play alongside with a friend. Although it comes with limitations (like needing a controller), this incredible mod enables local co-op to help you quest, slay monsters, and explore.
What's that, you want more waifus? Warning: lorebreaking anime girls ahead
That's it for today friends, I hope you've enjoyed a small collection of my screenshots. Imgur Album here for those who'd like to see them in higher resolution. If you haven't seen my New Vegas ones, feel free to check them out! I'll also be doing more of these in the future, so follow me to be notified as soon as they're out.
Some one please help me!!

Woah futasakuya! I didn't know skyrim could be so pretty!
I remember playing skyrim back in the day on my crappy PC, so I couldnt run it at the highest...
These mods you put on made the game look spectacular, I didn't know they even exists!
Being able to change the game drastically like that makes me want to play it again!
I remember spending will over a hundred hours in that game, doing all the little side quests and such.
I did all the dlc but then never finished the last fight cause I got bored, but this might bring me back!
Ill have to check if I still have my save files, then Im going to look into getting these mods just like you.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Best wishes
~Nico
I never tried modding Skyrim myself, but these screenshots look awesome. Maybe I'll give some mods a shot at some point.
It takes a bit of time, but I think the effort is well worth it.
Always love Bethesda games. I gotta admit though...I'm a huge fan of their older games. Seeing what the mod community has done to Morrowind still floors me to this day! Ever happen to play Morrowind or Oblivion?
Upvoted and followed btw.
I'm still waiting for OpenMW. I'd love to go back and play it, but dealing with all the issues of the ancient Gamebyro engine is not something I want to go through again. Hopefully the guys behind it finish up before TES 6 is released.
Obilvion is great but I don't like the setting of Cyrodiil too much. Skyrim has the 'latest TES engine' and largest mod library to boot, although it does have issues, being a mostly incomplete game and its stripping down of mechanics. It's why I mostly dick around in it or have mods to patch that hole up. I'm glad to see someone else with appreciation for Morrowind though.
Hah. Here I thought most of the mods have been given up on. I didn't see any animated with the vegetation, do they have things like the grass and trees swaying? I remember the last time I modded and played it...I had a sort of injector that added in distant LODs, animated greenery, higher resolutions...man it looked gorgeous. Of course I had a few other mods including my Deora mod too. Your right though, I too am glad to see some love for Morrowind.
@futasakuya sweet!
Modding some old games from the 90's would be awesome for retro-gaming LOL 😃
I'm not much of a retro gamer, but I'll gladly take recommendations
I haven't given it the critical exam to suggest one today - however have you ever played Starflight?
Yikes - talking about in need of better graphics, but the game was so much fun and funny!
Oh my God ❤
Big fan of the elder scrolls detected~
You really made me think about reinstalling it and getting into mods.
Perhaps that was my intention all along
How many FPS though?
A smooth 60 indoors, and 40-50 in a few places outside or in big battles. I was careful in my selection of textures, and handpicked a 'performance' ENB that looked great at night and was also functional beyond screenshots. The only real issue is the limited amount of scripts the game can handle, meaning I couldn't have too many combat/gameplay modifiers running at once. FPS drops I can handle, but not the game stuttering and freezing on its own accord.
I have a gtx 970 (haha 3.5 gb screw you nvidia) and a i7 4790k in case you're wondering, a better setup than most people, but not exactly the beefiest thing in the world
Very good post ! Now, after 5 months, what can you find on steemit about Elders scroll ? I've juste posted an adventure out of TESO, would you read it ? thank you !
