Geralt of Rivia is coming to SoulCalibur VI

in #gaming7 years ago

The Witcher series protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, will be playable in SoulCalibur VI. The news comes from an official reveal trailer, in which Geralt battles series staple Mitsurugi. This marks the first appearance of Geralt outside of the Witcher Series. Last week, Gamers Classified wrote about the teased crossover and SoulCalibur VI was at the top of our list. In the article we wrote "Geralt would be a perfect fit for Soulcalibur, with his witcher reflexes and swordplay making him a worthy opponent for any series mainstay." The SoulCalibur games have a long history of special guest characters. From Link in SoulCalibur II to Yoda and Darth Vader in SoulCalibur IV, these characters are always fan-favourites. With the Witcher series wrapped up, a guest appearance in SoulCalibur is a huge attraction for Geralt fans. Check out the trailer here.

The trailer reveals quite a few details about the newest fighter. Firstly, the White Wolf is decked out in his iconic Kaer Morhen armour, fit with two swords and Wolf medallion. While he uses both swords in the trailer, it looks like Steel is his main weapon with Silver being used for special attacks. By the looks of things, Geralt will have access to his magical sign abilities, including Aard, Quen, Igni and Axii. His movement and animations are near perfect translations of the fluid Witcher fighting style seen in the Witcher series. He also seems to have the same brutality as the Witcher games, with throat slitting executions in the trailer. Doug Cockle reprises his role as the White Wolf, giving a much needed authenticity to the character. The trailer reveals another key detail. Geralt will come with his own Kaer Morhen stage, with the iconic Witcher 3 violin soundtrack accompanying it. The beautiful mountains and medieval Europe inspired castles are on full display in the trailer.

While the trailer doesn't give an official release date, SoulCalibur VI is out on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2018. How do you think Geralt looks outside of The Witcher? Is he enough for you to pick up a copy of SoulCalibur VI? Who else would you like to see as a guest character? Let us know in the comments below.
