Spyro Reignited Trilogy Appears On Amazon
Listings on Amazon Mexico and India have confirmed the highly-anticipated remaster of the Spyro trilogy will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One on 21 September 2018.
The remaster titled, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, will contain HD remasters of Spyro the Dragon. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. The Mexico listing states that the Spyro trilogy remaster will feature "100+ levels, remastered with breathtaking graphical updates and improved gameplay controls."
Though now removed, the Amazon Mexico and India listings briefly featured the supposed box art for the Spyro remaster. Besides not looking the best, it did include the developer of the remaster, Toys For Bob. This is the developer who worked on the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which besides looking absolutely gorgeous, was a faithful and successful remaster of a PlayStation classic. Given their track record, it seems that the Spyro remaster will be in capable hands. Screenshots have surfaced online that show off the graphical upgrade.
Spyro is one of the most iconic Sony properties that has fallen on some hard times in recent years. After the original trilogy wrapped up, the franchise dropped in quality and eventually fell into obscurity. Spyro did eventually resurface but as the face of the Skylanders franchise. Fans have been pretty adamant about their desire for a Spyro remaster. Considering the success of the previously mentioned Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, it makes sense that Sony would want to remaster another successful IP and make some sweet nostalgia money.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been confirmed to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it will be priced at around AU$53.00 and will be released on 21 September 2018. In the aftermath of the Amazon listings, don't be surprised if we receive an official announcement from Activision in the near future.
