League of Legends - Champion Review, Ekko

Introduction

What's up guys, it's me ggteixeira and for today's post we'll be going over one of my favorite League of Legends champions, Ekko! I know I haven't posted in a while and I'm sorry about it, with school starting up I've been quite busy. But I'd also like to go ahead and make it up to you guys with this post here, I hope you guys enjoy it!

Before we start, what is League of Legends?

"League of Legends (abbreviated LoL) is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows and macOS. The game follows a freemium model and is supported by microtransactions, and was inspired by the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne mod, Defense of the Ancients." A perfect description of the game which I borrowed from it's own wiki page.

I'd also like to add on that League of Legends is considered a MOBA game. What does this mean? Well, it means that it's a mix between RPG and RTS genre games where you select a champion from a large pool on heroes to play controlling them as you do battle on whichever map and game-mode you pick. League has a variety of different maps and game modes, but the single most popular is it's standard 5v5 on Summoner's Rift where the objective is to through whatever means get through the enemies' defenses and destroy their nexus (base) whilst also trying to protect your own. One reason why this game-mode is so popular is because of it's only use in the League of Legends large pro competitive scene.

Before continuing on to the post itself I'd like to go ahead and state that if you guys have any further questions about League feel free to ask below, I'll make sure to reply as soon as possible.

So who is Ekko?

Ekko, the boy who shattered time, is a brilliant vigilante who uses his own inventions to protect the poor from the rich, League of Legend's version of Robin Hood!

Ekko was born and raised in the slums of Zaun, a toxic and crime-filled city where it's people lived in the shadow of the more successful city, Piltover. Ekko unlike most other children was born with a high intelligence, making him a genius. He started inventing at a young age making gadgets and tools he would use to survive in the streets of Zaun.

Eventually Ekko would discover how to bring himself back in time with his greatest invention, the 'Zero Drive!:'

With the 'Zero Drive' Ekko would gain the edge in most his fights, using his new-found power to help the poor before eventually being brought into the League of Legends!

Ekko In-Game

Ekko in-game and on the rift is classified as an AP mage-assassin. Like most assassins he's quite mobile, has crowd control but can unlike most assassins soak up some damage using some of his abilities! Speaking of his abilities, let's go over each of them briefly;

Ekko's first ability, 'Z-Drive,' is a passive ability applied to enemy targets either hit by Ekko or one of his abilities. Upon reaching three stacks, a good portion of damage is done to the target and if the target is an enemy champion, Ekko gains a temporary speed bonus! This ability is good for dealing damage to targets and sticking to other mobile champions who try to run away.

Ekko's second ability is his 'Timewinder,' a time-distorting grenade that opens up slowing and damaging anyone caught within it's wake. Upon reaching it's destination, the grenade closes itself returning back to Ekko to be caught and used again after it's cooldown. This ability is good for applying Z-Drive stacks, slowing down running targets, dealing damage and clearing minion waves! A good Ekko player will always try to hit multiple enemies with his 'Timewinder' to make the most use of it!

Ekko's third ability, 'Parallel Convergence,' is when Ekko splits the timeline creating an anomaly that after a few seconds slows anyone caught inside for a few seconds afterwards. If Ekko at any point touches the anomaly, all enemies inside are stunned for a few seconds and Ekko gains a temporary shield. This ability is great for team-fighting and if timed correctly can easily disable an entire enemy team! It's also great for tanking a bit of extra damage using the shield!

Ekko's fourth ability, 'Phase Dive,' allows Ekko to dash forward a short distance before teleporting through time towards any nearby target bashing them with his weapon and dealing a good amount of damage. This ability is great for catching far-away enemy targets or even escaping out of dangerous situations!

Ekko's fifth and final ability, 'Chronobreak,' forces Ekko to shatter time and rewind himself back a few seconds healing for a portion of his health before dealing serious damage to anyone where Ekko reappears. This ability is one of the best in the game! It's amazing for dealing big damage, escaping bad situations or doing both at the same time!

So keeping this in mind, how does Ekko fair as a champion? Greatly. How does he stand compared to other assassins? Even better. I definitely suggest that anyone who enjoys playing mobile assassins pick up Ekko.

In Conclusion

I'd like to go ahead and thank everyone for reading. I hope you all learned something new and if y'all have the time, try out Ekko in League of Legends. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to post down below and I'll reply. As always I hope you all have a wonderful evening and I can't wait to face you guys in the summoner's rift!

The trailer for Ekko released two years ago with the champion, it's pretty damn cool!
