What is Fortnite Battle Royale?

If you are a gamer of any kind then to not know this game you had to have been living under a rock, no joke. This game called Fortnite Battle Royale is currently the most hyped game in the world. I think any gamer that watches a lot of YouTube videos would agree that it is full of Fortnite funny moments, Fortnite streamers, Fortnite BEST TRAP EVER OMG U HAVE TO SEE THIS and a lot more, but when I click on the video I do not get to see the game I was promised. Fortnite and Fortnite Battle Royale, there is a big difference - one is good, one... not so much. You can probably guess by the title of the post which one is the better one out of the two. Ok, so what is Fortnite Battle Royale, well, first off, it's a Battle Royale game, this means that is a Hunger Games type of concept. And it's just like PUBG - the oldest out of the two rivals. A Battle Royale game is a 100 player PvP survival game that takes place on a specific/restricted map. Your goal in Fornite Battle Royale is to obtain loot from picking it up off the ground and certain other areas on the map and to be the last person standing out of the 100 that have joined the match. But there is a catch - every few minutes the playable area of the map becomes smaller leaving behind an area that is not suited for players to be in (also known as the Storm or the Storm eye). The game can be played in solo, duo or squad mode. There is a slew of weapons in the game that can be picked up from off the ground, near dead players or from boxes that drop out of the sky and some that are already on the map. The boxes that drop from the sky, however, usually have much better gear than the gear inside the ones you can find on the ground. Weapons and other items that can be found on the map come in different rarities - common, uncommon, rare and legendary. Based on what rarity the item is, it's stats may vary from other items - common being the worst, legendary - the best. While there are plenty of weapons types and rarities, there are also consumables that grant you health and armor advantages after being consumed. These also come in different rarities while also having varied stats. The main thing that sets this game apart from other battle royale games is that it has a building mechanic. As you drop in on the map from a flying balloon bus you are granted a melee weapon. This weapon, however, you will mostly use for destroying in-game objects like walls, as well as collect building resources by hitting anything (apart from the ground). These resources can later be used to build walls, platforms, cover and full buildings that could protect you from incoming players.

My experience

For the week I've been playing the game I have a very good understanding of how to play it. So far I've got 3 solo and 2 duo wins as well as 15 max kills in one game. You might ask yourself how does he have such stats while having played the game for a week. Well... I know how to aim that's about all there is to it. From my experience, I can say that the game is a lot of fun with or without friends. However, for people who get anxious while gaming it would be quite hard to play it solo. There is just something about running around a map while realizing that a 100 other players are all out to get you. It can be a bit taxing, even to just play one game, you always feel the pressure. And a lot of times getting a win is all up to your luck. Every single time you think you're fine, you probably aren't, cus someone is watching always. One thing I really find difficult to understand is why there is no first-person mode for the game. I feel like it would work great, plus I am an FPS kinda guy. Oh, that reminds me, Fortnite has this weird optimization where at a certain point you can't get more frames no matter the power of your system. Also for weaker systems, the game is a pain in the ass. Granted it is not as bad as PUBG because when I can run PUBG at 30 FPS, I can run Fortnite at about 60.

Should you play it?

Yes, it's free, there is no reason to not play it. If you don't like it, whatever... you didn't lose any money. And I'd say that most people will actually enjoy it. Fortnite Battle Royale really is a lot of fun. And I think it's becoming more popular because unlike PUBG it is also casual. Yes, it can be played casually. Obviously, it's not for everyone, some may not enjoy the pace of the game. Wait, did I say that the game is casual? I regret saying that because it's not true if you don't try your hardest you'll get killed instantly. Thankfully nothing happens, you just move on to the next match. You don't lose anything, it's just a game like PUBG, you can only improve. That's about it.

This took way longer than expected, so I really hope you enjoyed it.
