Iconic Characters: Nathan Drake
Hey steemians, how have you been? Today is Saturday and you know what that means, right?...That's right, today is Saturday of "Iconic Characters", but before beginning I would like to remind you that this section of my blog is entirely dedicated to a character, whether it is videogames, comics, etc. And well if you read the title you will know who will be dedicated to this edition of Iconic Characters... That's right, today in Iconic Characters we'll talk about "The Treasure Hunter", Nathan Drake .
Previously I pointed out that delivery of Iconic Characters would be dedicated to Nathan Drake, but before speaking about it, it seems appropriate to talk about the importance of the latter in the videogame series Uncharted.
Nathan Drake is the main protagonist of the Uncharted saga, this saga was created by Naughty Dog, a company dedicated to the development of videogames, famous for sagas as Crash Bandicoot and The Last of Us. "The treasure hunter" is a character of great relevance in the series Uncharted, being the protagonist of all video games, the only exception to this is the video game Uncharted: The Lost Legacy where is Chloe Frazer the protagonist.
Uncharted is considered one of the best videogame sagas of all time, being praised by players and critics in general. And no wonder, because the titles belonging to the saga have always stood out among the gamers.
I personally believe that the popularity of Uncharted is due to many reasons, including its third-person game system where we are able to carry different firearms, grenades, and other objects that we could get to need throughout our adventure. To this we should add the large number of puzzles to solve, which is undoubtedly a point in favor for the saga. In addition another important point would also be the role of treasure hunter that has the protagonist, which takes us to various parts of the world in search of the greatest treasures, the latter undoubtedly ends up bridándonos a sense of unforgettable adventure that makes us feel like everything an Indiana Jones.
Uncharted is undoubtedly one of the best sagas of video games and there are many things I could say about her, but I think we have already talked enough about Uncharted, right? without further ado it's time to talk about its protagonist Nathan Drake.
Nathan Drake
He is a peculiar man, being someone curious, cheerful and fun, and although it might seem silly, the truth is that he is very intelligent. Nathan has also proven to be someone temperamental, although he is almost always smiling, even in the most dangerous circumstances, where he usually lets out a few sarcastic comments to make fun of the situation in which he finds himself.
Nathan is certainly someone brave, but as everyone has a weakness; his family and friends, whom he considers the greatest treasure, showing himself to be protective and compassionate with all of them. However he shows no compassion whatsoever to those who threaten what he wants, and this is so much so that "The treasure hunter" will not hesitate to kill, although when he does it is in self-defense and of his loved ones, and is that Nathan thinks that being killed in cold blood is something that nobody deserves. Drake's belief that all lives have value is carried by him to the point that he has even come to show compassion for those who have tried to kill him.
Nathan Drake unquestionably has had a very hard and dangerous life since he was very young, was an orphan at age five, was subjected to the worst tortures, lost loved ones, was betrayed by those he once called friends...but despite all this, he remains someone noble and maintains that cheerful attitude that characterizes him for excellence.
"The treasure hunter" is undoubtedly a great character, which I think is due to the human nature of the character. And is that Nathan seems a real person, is not at all a flat character, he expresses himself; laughs, cries, screams, feels afraid...In the end with this what he tried to say, or rather what I want to highlight is how incredibly well the character is designed.
Amy Henning, one of the creative minds behind the franchise comments that from the beginning it was planned that "The treasure hunter" was a character anyone could identify with, thus making Nathan "a normal man in difficult situations", which I think a success since it ends up differentiating it from the typical protagonist of the action-adventure genre.
Perhaps the fact that Nathan is like that is the reason why so many seem so nice to us. And is that Nathan Drake is a man with his life, has his interests and his own problems, is like any of us, but of course the difference is that he knows parkour and the way he manages a weapon, in addition to living fleeing of danger, but all this does it in a credible way. And of course, Nathan knows how to handle himself with weapons, but not at the same level as someone like Agent 47(Hitman) and yes, he knows how to move, but not in the way what would a murderer like Ezio Auditore(Assassin's Creed) , because you can get stumbled while running, you need to rely on a ledge to climb a moderately large structure, slides, etc...Anyway, what I want to say with all this is that Nathan is a great character because he is real.
Nathan Drake is undoubtedly a great character and this made him the emblematic figure of PlayStation 3. It is a nice and unlikely character, being one of the most expressive video game characters ever created, for this and much more I consider Nathan Drake "The Treasure Hunter" a Iconic Character.
Well I wish I could say more about this great character, but here comes this edition of Iconic Characters. Do not forget to vote and comment what you think is delivery of Iconic Characters, do not forget that this column is published every Saturday, so do not miss it. Without more to say, I say goodbye for now.
