5 Games To Look Out For In 2018 (Blog Form)
More than a week ago, I posted a vid on Youtube titled (much like this post), '5 Games To Look Out For In 2018'.
Within the video (as the title suggested), I gave 5 upcoming games that I believed that gamers of all stripes should look out for this year. Some of the games I listed have confirmed released dates while others are still in the air as to when we can expect the games to finally drop.
With this list, it should be noted that all of the games that I listed are subjective and are games that (in my opinion), are going to be one the most highly rated and fun games to play this year. Chances are that if you were to make a top 5's list similar to mine, your list would have different games and choices as we all have different taste(although I'd still argue that mine's would be objectively better).
Anyhow, without me dragging any further, let me go ahead and start off my list for the games you gotta look out for this year!
Number 5: Far Cry 5
To start off the list, I got the latest upcoming installment to one of the most beloved FPS series there is... Far Cry 5!
In this upcoming installment, you are going to be getting the same style of open world game play that you have grown to known and love from the series so far along with a whole new slice of game play features that you can come to appreciate also. Some new features that are going to be coming (along with some old ones) include a new recruitment system which would allow for you to recruit local NPC's to fight alongside you when it comes to your endeavors, this system is much similar to the ''Buddy''system that was in Fry Cry 2. A fishing feature will be introduced where you can (as the name suggests) fish for a wide variety of fish that are available in the game. Some of the old features from previous games that will be returning will be ''Fangs for Hire'' from Far Cry Primal which allowed you to tame wild animals, the hunting feature will be making a full comeback, and the ability to obtain and customize several vehicles and weapons will all be making a comeback.
When it comes to what we know about the single player so far, it will be taking place in the fictional Hope County, in the state of Montana ( a first for the series to take place in the US). You will be playing as a Deputy Sheriff of the county, which can also be fully customized (which is another first for the whole series btw) as your job is help to take down a Preacher named Joseph Seed who is the leader of a very powerful Domesday Cult. His cult maintains a strong influence across the whole city which is why taking him down will not be no easy matter.
For those that are going to be down playing this game, it has a release date of March 27 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Enough said with Far Cry 5, here is what I decided to put for number 4...
Number 4: The Last Of Us Part 2
The sequel to one of (arguably) the best games of all time is coming and it's called The Last Of Us Part 2!
Story wise, The Last Of Us Part 2 will be following up from where the first game finished (takes place about 5 years later mind you) and will feature the return of both Ellie and Joel as the main characters. Ellie (now 19) will be the playable character this time around and she has since seen her personality change big time since the first game as her life is now consumed with hate and made the promise to 'kill them all' (whatever that may mean). The game also will be taking place mostly in Seattle, Washington.
So far, we don't know much when it comes to any new game play features, modes, and mechanics that will be coming the game but you can bet that we will probably hear some details about those things within the next few months. Some of the people that are currently working on The Last Of Us Part 2 include developers that worked previously on the first Last Of Us like Neil Druckmann and newcomers like Halley Gross (who previously worked on the Westworld Tv series).
Finally, for those that are gonna be excited to want to play this upcoming installment, you can expect to be released for (and only for) PS4. No release date has been announced for The Last Of Us Part 2 but it's pretty likely we may see it be dropped in Q4 of this year.
Number 3: Overkill's The Walking Dead
I'd be willing to put money down that you may have never heard of this upcoming game by Overkill... but it's all good cause I'm gonna tell you a bit about it.
Overkill's The Walking Dead is an upcoming 4 player co-op game taking place within the well-known TWD universe. The game will be taking place within the post-apocalyptic city of Washington D.C. where you will have to option to play as several unique characters within the game. So far we only know a bit of one of those available characters, a former architect named Aidan who from what we saw with his character trailer, he seems to have a heart for using a baseball bat as a weapon against the walkers (kind of reminds me of a certain TWD character from the TV Show). From what Aidan's trailer's suggested when it comes to all of the characters, we can expect all of them to have their own unique characteristics and abilities with each character you end up choosing.
When it comes to comes to how the co-op of this game is gonna work, the co-op will involve up to 4 people being able to play through the intense story campaign with each player playing as one of unique characters that are available. The co-op will consist of missions and raids where you and your other co-op players will be able to look for supplies and survivors that will help you against the waves of walkers that you will encounter. The game will also feature a bit of game elements that RPG fans will find familiar (although specifics on those elements are currently unknown).
There is still a lot of in game details that we still don't have much info on but you can expect to learn more details about what to expect with this game within the next few months. Overkill's The Walking Dead has also seen it's fair share of delays where it was originally stated to be released in 2016 but has since be pushed to where it is now slated for a Fall 2018 release.
Overkill's The Walking Dead will be dropping for PC, PS4, and Xbox One for those that are down to play this game.
Number 2: Metro Exodus
The graphics for this game are looking pretty dope.
Metro Exodus is an upcoming Survival Horror FPS game that will be a direct sequel to 2013's Metro: Last Light. The story will be following up from where Metro: Last Light left off where you will reprise the role of Artyom as he continues to survive in post nuclear war Russia. In Metro Exodus, Artyom will continue with his journey of leaving the Metro in Moscow in the hopes of reaching the Far East with his wife, Anna.
The game play of Metro Exodus will consist of the survival horror and stealth elements and sandbox elements that fans have come to known and love since both Last Light and 2033. Some in-game features that players will see include features such as a dynamic weather system, a day-night cycle, and environments that change as the seasons do as the game takes place within one whole in-game year. The story mode of the game will continue to be non-linear where
the decisions that you decide to make within the campaign will have consequences to them.
Much more can be said about what to expect about this game... but i'd probably spoil to much. For those that are gonna be interested in playing Metro Exodus, the game will be dropping in Q4 of this year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One (BTW if played on the Xbox One X, the game will be enhanced when it comes to graphics and possibly also frame rate).
Well now it's time to move on and show y'all what I think is the Number 1 game to look out for in 2018...LETS GO!
Number 1: Red Dead Redemption 2
Let's keep it real... could it really be any other game?
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an upcoming Western Action-Adventure Game and is the follow up (not a sequel) to 2010's highly successful masterpiece, Red Dead Redemption. Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a prequel to RDR and the game will have you play as an outlaw named Arthur Morgan who is also the member of an infamous gang called the... Van der Linde gang. Although the game is a prequel to Red Dead Redemption, it's still unknown if whether or not John Marston (who's of course the protagonist of RDR) will be making an appearance in Red Dead 2. It's certainly possible and it would be cool to see but who knows.
Of course the number 1 thing about RDR 2 that is getting me ( and a lot of other people) real excited about is going to be the multiplayer. A lot of speculation that is going around when it comes to the multiplayer for this game is that it will be very similar in a lot of ways to GTA Online on GTA V. While not much word from directly Rockstar as to how exactly the multiplayer will be, their website did state that the game will bring a 'brand new online multiplayer experience' for the series. There has been a couple of leaks that suggested that we may see modes such as battle royale, revive and survive (basically TDM), and even (possibly) co-op missions for you to do with other players. While we don't know for sure if the multiplayer will include a complete open (and chaotic) environment like in GTA Online, I will say that if RDR 2 does include such an experience, you can bet that I will be putting a ton of day and night hours into that multiplayer (and also have a lot of sleepless nights as a result).
Unfortunately, Red Dead Redemption has seen it's bit of delays as it was originally supposed to be released in Fall of last year, but it then got pushed to Spring of this year... then it got pushed to where it is now at a Fall of 2018 release. Hopefully with all of the delays, they hopefully remove any bugs and issues that they may have with the game so that when the game finally drops... it will run perfect for everyone.
For those that are as excited as me for this game and can't wait for it to drop, the game will be releasing on October 26 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
And that's gonna do it for my list and if there is any games that you are excited for this year that I didn't cover in this list, definitely let me know what they are in the comments down below!
Thanks to everyone that has read this far and look out for upcoming blogs and vids here on Steemit as I will be posting more in the future.
Take Care.
