Football manager : this can ruin your life

"With football manager came ignoring your girlfriends phone , never going to band practice and if possible never leaving the room . If i had laptops , i would have taken it in my toilet."

Ever heard about football manager ? you either love it or hate it there is no middle ground.

I was a normal schoolboy when i got my first taste into football manager or championship manager as it was called . I used to play Harry Potter, fifa 2002 (where i couldnt get a single freekick goal) and Doom . For a kid who never played something like sid meyer civilization or even AOE , fm was a disaster . I couldn't play or i couldn't get any goals myself. I uninstalled the game and thought i would never buy the shit again.

It should have been the end , it would have been better . But, after couple of years one of my friends gave me a CD of football manager 07. I was 16-17 at the time and i gave it another shot. Problem was i found the knack and understood the mechanics . I was hooked , a game where you get to control every aspect of your football team as a manager ,attend press conferences , buy/sell players and feel like you are managing a real football team .

Suffice to say my holidays (after we pass grade 10 we have 6 months holiday in nepal) was mostly spent in my room . Without opening you browser or even connecting to your dial up internet connection :) .

I couldn't understand how someone can stop playing this shit . They even put empasis on the last minute goals, the torture of making decisions when you scored a 65th minute goal ,subsitutes ,unhappy players , morale ,tactics ,backroom staff, news section....everything . The best part was though searching for wonderkids getting at least one or two decent ones and taking at least 5 more years (more like a week in real time ) to make him a legend .
