Monster Hunter Weapon #4 : Long Sword

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

Long Sword, This is a weapon that i'm not very good at. However due to it's relatively high attack and attack speed, it became extremely popular to players.

Long Sword is a weapon that branched off from the Great Sword. It lost the ability to block and the ability to charge up an attack. But in exchange you get awesome combos with great speed that can flow into the next combo or into a fade step to avoid damage. Attacks chains really easily from one combo to the next, which means players need to learn about the timing of the monster and know when to back off.

Long Sword has an unique ability called "Spirit Blade", it's a bar that's shown on screen below your Stamina bar. Every hit you land with the Long sword will fill up the spirit gauge. You can then activate Spirit blade attacks that consumes some of the spirit gauge. A full combo usually consumes about half the bar.

When the Spirit Gauge is full the Hunter will get an Attack Buff that increases by 12%.
Using spirit blade attacks will deal additional damage and prevent the weapon from bouncing/deflected.
Using the Spirit Gauge and Spirit Blade ability is extremely vital to the mastery of the Long Sword. This is the part i think i screw up on the most. That's why this is not one of my best weapons. :(

Pros

  • Good Damage
  • Good Reach
  • Good attack Speed
  • Great for breaking monster parts and tails
  • Spirit Blade attacks
  • Good Agility

Cons

  • Cannot Block attacks
  • Cannot cancel out of a combo to roll or dodge.
  • Loses sharness fast since you can deal out so many hits.

Leave any comment and questions, i'd love to hear what you guys have to say.
