The Hash Rush ICO launches today — and how to participate
The Hash Rush ICO launches today. From 20 September 20:00 (8pm) UTC to 20 October 20:00 (8pm) UTC, you can invest in Hash Rush and get rewards such as:
- Extra Rush Coins (up to a bonus of 20%!)
- Unique in-game unit cards and items
- Opportunity to choose a faction, without waiting in queue
- And the chance to join the game early (for investors during the first 3 days)
If you are an early-bird investor in Hash Rush, or if you have ample experience with ICOs, please go to our Hash Rush ICO page and participate when the time is right. But if you’re not yet familiar with cryptocurrencies and ICOs, please follow the steps below.
Participating in the Hash Rush ICO in 3 Simple Steps
You may already know how to set up an ERC-20 compliant Ethereum Wallet (Step 1), and purchase ETH (Step 2). In that case, you can immediately skip to Step 3 (sending your funds to the ICO). But if you aren’t familiar with cryptocurrencies at all, simply start with Step 1 and we’ll explain what you have to do to participate in the Hash Rush ICO.
Step 1: Setting up your Ethereum Wallet
As you might know, you can invest in the Hash Rush ICO using Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), Qtum (QTUM) or Ethereum Classic (ETC), with a minimum of 0.1 ETH (or equivalent). But regardless of your choice of cryptocurrency, you will require an Ethereum Wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens in order to receive the Rush Coin token.
While there are many platforms available to create an Ethereum wallet, many of these do not allow you to store new ERC-20 tokens such as Rush Coin. We therefore recommend using one of the following:
You can use any of these three, but here we’ll show you how to create a wallet on the MyEtherWallet website, which is a simple process.
Disclaimer: While MyEtherWallet works well for many crypto-investors, you yourself are ultimately responsible for the actions you take, including setting up an Ethereum wallet. Therefore, we recommend you to read more about Ethereum wallets; don’t only rely on this article for your information.
Creating a MyEtherWallet wallet
Start by going to the MyEtherWallet website, and check whether you’ve arrived at the right URL (it should say: https://www.myetherwallet.com/). The first thing you see is Create New Wallet.
Simply fill in a unique password, remember this by heart, and press ‘Create New Wallet’.
Now, save your Keystore File. Click ‘Download Keystore File’, and save the file on a location on your computer or on a USB hard drive for extra security. After you have saved the file (triple-check this!), click the Continue-button.
You should now be presented with your Private Key. Write down your Private Key or print it and create a Paper Wallet. If you want to keep your wallet secure, please take heed of all warnings presented on these pages!
As you can see, there are multiple ways of accessing your wallet, but for clarity’s sake, we’ll go with the Private Key option. Simply fill in your private key and click ‘Unlock’.
Now you get a full overview of your Ethereum Wallet and that’s it! You are now the proud owner of an Ethereum wallet. If you haven’t done so already, write down both your address and private key (in a separate place) or print your paper wallet. And if you want to access your wallet again, go to the MEW website and click on ‘View Wallet Info’ in the top right corner.
Step 2: Purchasing your First ETH
Note that if you want to participate in the ICO using Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum Classic (ETC) or Qtum (QTUM), you can skip this step.
Now you can actually start using your wallet. In order to fill your wallet with Ether, you need a cryptocurrency exchange. There are many cryptocurrency exchanges you can use, such as Coinbase, Kraken, Bitfinex, Bittrex (and many more). Some of these allow you to trade euro’s or dollars for ETH directly, while others only allow you to exchange BTC (or a different cryptocurrency) to ETH. Note also that these exchanges use different exchange rates: some might be more favourable than others.
We will not go into detail about which exchange is the best fit for you. Instead, we’ll show you the easiest way to purchase ETH and receive it on the wallet you just created. As a reminder, this is the easiest way to do it, but it may not be the cheapest or best way for you.
First, go to your MyEtherWallet-wallet and click on the Coinbase widget you see when you log in. Coinbase is one of the major cryptocurrency exchanges, and this widget allows you to easily purchase ETH and send it to your wallet.
The process of buying ETH using this widget is very easy; we won’t get into detail how to use it here. Simply click the widget, and follow the steps required. This includes filling in your name, the amount of ETH you need — if you want to participate in the Hash Rush ICO, you will need a minimum of 0.1 ETH — , your email address and your phone number.
Alternatively, you can choose to purchase Ether through another cryptocurrency exchange. Simply send the currency of your choice to the exchange of your choice and exchange it for ETH. If you do not know how to do this, use a Google query such as: “How to buy ETH on Kraken”, where you can substitute ‘Kraken’ for any other exchange. If you don’t use the Coinbase widget, don’t forget to send your ETH to your MyEtherWallet or Mist wallet before continuing to Step 3.
Step 3: Sending ETH, ETC, QTUM or BTC to the Hash Rush ICO
Whether you already have a wallet full of cryptocurrency, or you’ve just created one using the first two steps in this article, you are now ready to participate in the Hash Rush ICO.
In order to become an investor in Hash Rush, first go to the Hash Rush ICO website: http://www.hashrush.com/ico.html
Slowly read through all information including our Terms & Conditions.
Having agreed to the T&Cs, pick the cryptocurrency you will use to invest with in the Hash Rush project. As you can see, you can choose either Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Bitcoin (BTC), or Qtum (QTUM). The minimum entry threshold is 0.1 ETH. At this point, you will be shown the address you should send your funds to. Now simply fill in your email address and send the funds.
NOTICE: If you’re investing with Bitcoin or Ethereum Classic, double-check your email address! In this case we will need to contact you to get details about the ETH address we will send your Rush Coin tokens to. So do not forget to fill this in properly.
Once the transaction is confirmed and we have an address to send the Rush Coin tokens to, a smart contract will automatically release your tokens.
You are now officially a Hash Rush investor! Congratulations!
If, for some reason, you didn’t manage to take these steps or something went wrong during your transaction, do not hesitate to contact us. We’ll do the best we can to solve your problem. We look forward to your participation.

This is a very intriguing blockchain project. Love to see blockchain companies forming in the gaming industry. Thanks for the heads up, will check this out.
Great, thanks @invicid. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Yeah, that game idea is still great. What annoys me a bit is that at this point you can't join for free. I mean I 100% understand that we need to support the developers and that you somehow have to enter the ingame market, but what makes steemit so attractive for new users is that they can join entirely free. They can try the system and than later decide if they want to invest in it or not. Hash Rush is still going to be BIG in my opinion.
Hi @goodguymate - I'm also on the Hash Rush team, and wanted to comment that your exact point is something the Lead Game Producer and Chief Game Economist are putting a lot of time into figuring out, and the current idea, although not set in stone, is to allow for the tutorial and early stages to be played without requiring any payment.
We'll confirm when we can, but the plan is to allow players to, just as you say, try it for free.
Thank you for the answers, you guys are awesome :)
Hi @goodguymate, you make a fair point. We've decided on this model on the basis of a few reasons. You're right in that we need to be able to support our development team, but on top of that, we also want to make sure we can maintain the right amount of hashing power to Hash Rush players via our mining farm and release future updates/DLC's for instance. We want to create an immersive and unique strategy game, but we realised that if we want to do it well, this is one of the choices we have to make.
I have my ETH ready. This will be my first ICO. I was always late for good projects. Hopefully this one will turn out as planned.
Good luck!
Hi @bachuslib, that's great to hear! Thank you so much for your support, and good luck with the wait :)
Awesome, and thanks for supporting this project! Great to have you on board and along for the ride. If you have not already, come join us on Discord at https://discord.gg/ecTsYsc
This sounds both strangely and interesting. Most of games have their own internal currencies with the same list of rewards after purchasing. Some projects even had a withdraw opportunity.
Thanks for your comment @colivingclub and good to hear you find it interesting :) Let us know if you have any questions.
