Nintendo’s Mentality

Hey everyone and welcome to Nintanime Monday where we blend Nintendo and anime together. Watch this short video post I made about simplicity below

Welcome to Nintanime Monday's where we link Nintendo and anime together. Today's topic will be simplicity and the genius of it. Now if you're a Nintendo fan like me then you have already heard and seen the trailer for the ”new pokemon” game on the switch. In my personal opinion, there seems to be a divide amongst poke-fans on this game. However, I think Nintendo is creating a long-term strategy that just might pay off. This game is very simple in it’s approach.

So basically it’s Pokemon yellow with a twist. There are no more random encounters with Pokemon, you catch Pokemon with the Pokeball instead of battling them. There are no more HM’s (hidden moves). And you can only have traditional battles when playing against other trainers. Now the camp I’m from would normally be disappointed with this setup. But I think Nintendo is making this game primarily for Pokemon Go fans (casual players) and for the new kids growing up playing Pokemon. When seen in this light it’s a great game. For beginner Pokemon trainers and casual fans of Pokemon Go. The game removes elements from the traditional era like wild pokemon, capturing Pokemon etc while at the same time retaining that classic turn-based Rpg system. So I think Nintendo is trying to slowly integrate these newbie players into the Pokemon world. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a sequel in the Johto region.

In the same way that the anime Hidamari No sketch is really intended for a younger audience (mainly female). This anime is about a group of junior high students living in the Hidamari apartments and experiencing life kind of like an adult in college. This might give younger viewers the chance to see what’s it like to be an adult while at the same time dealing with the mentality of junior high school. The approach is simple yet it has depth to it if you look closely while watching the anime.

The point is that both of these concepts are introducing complex elements but in a simple format. It’s like when you have a big project and you break it down into chunks. Now that is keeping it stupidly simple, I see you Nintendo😏
