GOD OF WAR

I wanted to talk about God of War since the new game came out, and this is my chance now. I wanted to do it for all of you so you have the motivation to play the other games (for those who haven't played last games).

Let’s talk about a little bit of the game. 

God of War is a saga of videogames created by Santa Monica Studio and published exclusively by Sony Computer Entertainment. 

Character 

The main character of this game is: KRATOS. He is a spartan half-god that faces several famous characters from the Greek mythology. KRATOS was born Sparta, when he was growing up he was already strong, he started to go up in ranges of military force.

KRATOS was given 2 swords (chaos swords) by the god Ares. He descended from the Olympus and he killed all the enemies of KRATOS (because of a deal that he and Ares made before), he gave him the swords and both of them were attached to his arms.

But in the new game: God of War (2018), KRATOS is using an axe by the name of: Leviathan that was from his wife

Here I will talk a little bit of all the games and about the story or plot that brings each one (there's no spoiler).

God of War: Ascension 

This game starts when KRATOS takes action of his sins and tries to break free from the works that Ares gave him a while ago.

This game takes place six months before KRATOS killed his wife and daughter.

God of War: Chains of Olympus

In this part of the game, KRATOS is serving the Gods of Olympus (for ten years now), he needs to complete several tasks to free his mind out of the nightmares that are hunting him.

God of War

This game takes part with some flashbacks when KRATOS was a successful soldier, when he is facing a village, the barbarian captain of the village is about to kill him and KRATOS give his life to kill the barbarian, (here is when Ares gives him the Chaos Swords and with the Chaos Swords he kills the barbarian captain.

KRATOS is controlled by Ares, he attacks another village and he kills his wife and daughter, KRATOS rebels Ares, and he gets the nickname of Ghost of Sparta (because he killed his family, when he was being controlled by Ares) so here is when KRATOS starts to serve the gods so he can be free out of his pain and nightmares.

God of War: Betrayal

KRATOS is about to conquer Greece. Argos (the leader of some creatures) send a group of creatures to stop him. But Argos is killed by an unknown enemy, so KRATOS starts to follow the track of the assassin.

A letter to KRATOS is sent by the gods that tell him to stop the war he is doing because of all the chaos that he is leaving behind. KRATOS kills the messenger and Zeus takes action on this and tries to kill him.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta

This game takes place in the ancient Greece that is populated by the Gods, Titans, etc. In the Mount Olympus, KRATOS tries to find his mother, along the path he finds his brother (that he thought he was dead) and he liberates him.

God of War II

KRATOS is turned into the God of War and he threats to destroy all Greece because a spartan calls him to achieve the “Spartan Glory”, Athena tells him not do it but he refuses and here is where all starts. He needs to kill the Colossus of Rhodes with the help of Zeus and with the help of his sword.

God of War III

KRATOS travels towards Zeus and he avoids being killed by the God of the gods. Athena gets killed by protecting Zeus, reveling him that KRATOS is the son of Zeus, he doesn’t believe this so he travels through the time to the Big War and takes advantage to defeat the gods when they are weak.

God of War (2018)

This game takes place in the Nordic Mythology. When KRATOS took revenge against the Olympic gods he decides to live with his son: Atreus in the Nordic world, both of them need to hike a mountain to spread the ashes of the mother of Atreus around the word.

I want to say that God of War took an unexpected turn in this game because of the transition from Greek to Nordic, I am not saying that is wrong, I think it’s okay. I really liked this older version of Kratos and his beard (hahaha). Atreus is an important character too, I like the way that Atreus talks to his father and ask him to tell him stories of him. Kratos is not a story teller but we can have more information of Kratos in this game.

I haven’t had the opportunity to play this game, but I know I will sooner or later. But I had the chance to play all the other games of this saga (excepting God of War: Betrayal), I need to say that I am a fan of the “hack n slash” type of games, but in this game God of War took another unexpected turn in the genre, I liked it too, this God of War (I don’t know how to say it) has like more space than what you had in the other games, you have more and more freedom to do what you want.

From what I’ve seen the playability is really smooth, you have KRATOS slashing enemies like the old games but in a more “classy” way but with his violence :D

You can really see how God of War is, a really series of games that are always the best in playability and story, all the ratings are awesome in each game.
