How to play Destiny 2 beta without preordering
The Destiny 2 beta just started today for people who pre-ordered their copy of Destiny 2 on PlayStation 4. Players on Xbox One who pre-ordered will have to wait until tomorrow to play. Those who didn’t pre-order were told to wait for the open beta to begin on July 21st for a chance to play the Destiny 2 before September. Thankfully, some fine folks on Reddit have found a way for anyone to obtain Destiny 2 beta access through foreign a Xbox Live or PlayStation Network account before the open beta officially commences for everyone.
To get started, you need to make an account located in either Japan, Singapore, or Hong Kong on your given service, be it Xbox Live or PlayStation Network. First, you’re going to want a new user on your console. Once that’s done, you’ll be prompted to make an online account by your given service, say yes to that.
Now that you’re making this account, be sure to set your home country as one of those three I mentioned above. You’ll also need to lie about your address, as it needs to be located in Japan, Singapore, or Hong Kong. Here are some random address generators for all three if you’re having difficulty coming up with something: Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Here comes a bit of a tricky part; the remaining forms will be translated into the given language of the country you chose. This makes it a little difficult to fill them out, but luckily they have the exact same order as the English forms. If you’re having any trouble just refer back to the English form for your service. After that, it should be smooth sailing. You should also make sure to use a real email address when prompted. Xbox Live and PlayStation Network both sent verification emails after making a new account and you won’t be able to access their given stores otherwise.
Okay, perfect; now you’ve made your account. The Destiny 2 beta is almost in your hands; all you have to do now is open up your new account’s network store and head to the demo section. Despite the language difference, demos should be in the exact same area where they usually are. Once downloaded, you can go back onto your original account and play from there. Everything should be in English when you get it.
I would recommend keeping the foreign account even after the beta ends. There’s often a bevy of exclusive content to be found on any Asian account, plus there are quite a few places online to purchase network cash for those accounts. If you buy a foreign game this way, you’ll circumvent a ton of expensive import fees.
