10 Tips on sneaky Fortnite BR playthrough or "The Stealth Archer Build"
We all know what I'm referring to with the "Stealth Archer Build", right?
Well, for those of you that had been sleeping under a rock around 2011 (and since) there is this small game called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In this open world RPG there was one build that made you, to put it simple, invisible. That's the stealth archer build, which thanks to going all in with Sneak, Archery and Light Armor skill trees, rewarded you with near zero visibility to enemies and humongous amounts of critical damage from from being invisible and all.
So when I started playing Fortnite and got shat on a few times, this gem from Skyrim came to my mind.
If I can't beat them, I'll play around them
And lo and behold - from my around my fifth game or so I started consistently survive to or almost top 10 and actually have some meaningful fights instead of just getting blasted with a pumpy by a retard who dropped 0.00001 seconds earlier than I did.
Note: this is hardly a strategy, but rather a simple tactic you can use to change the difficulty arc of a Fortnite game. Starts will get easier, but endgame is much much harder. But at least you'll survive till the end. Proceed with care.
1. Patience
When you get on the Bangbus, you are anxious to rape that spacebar, I know, but try not too. Early jumps are much more crowded by the Do-or-Die wankers.
Do-or-Die tactic is based on time saving ideology. You leave the Bangbus as soon as you can, get a weapon and either kill all the other peabrains out there and end up with a solid loot or die fast so you can start another game. Rinse and repeat
2. Avoid popular spots
Pleasant Park? Salty Springs? Any of the new spots like Tilted Towers?
All of those are a BIG NO-NO for this build. That's were the big boys go, we are cowards and we don't want anything to do with them.
3. Love single houses.
You know those grey buildings, that you sometimes pass on your way from one heavily contested zone to another? 90% they'll have a chest, at least one solid green weapon (tac shotty or a rifle <3), an ammo box and another chest if they are accompanied by a shed.
Our house, was our castle and our keep
Our house, in the middle of our street
4. Use single houses
Rip their insides out. No floor, inside wall or furniture should be left behind. You'll need that wood for the endgame, trust me. One thing you shouldn't destroy are outside walls. We are stealthy, remember, and it's easy to spot parts of the house disappearing.
5. Don't hang around places you gutted
It's pointless. By the time you are done with your first house you'll probably already have one kill from some guy who stumbled upon you, failing to spot you beforehand and the headcount on the server will already be around 40-50 people. Do-or-Die tards are dead ;3
6. Shotties and sniper rifles are your friend
Because you'll have to keep your distance or get really close to avoid being spotted (eyes or ears) you'll have to prioritize shotguns and sniper rifles in you equipment. But don't be dumb and leave a SCAR behind or something. It's important for the endgame.
7. Pick your battles
Never engage anyone out of your range or someone you aren't sure you can take on. Stay alive and find a way to get him in a more suitable environment.
8. No, bushes are not good
By that I mean the wearable bushes. They are pointless and if a good player will stumble upon you when you are sitting as a bush somewhere, he will take you out immediately. But do hide in regular bushes sometimes, just be careful if anyone is watching, and when someones approaching you, be on ready to open fire and move out.
9. Start prioritizing the endgame as time passes
The gameplay will push you out of your comfort zone and you will have to finally face your enemies so with time you should have enough building material and weapons to follow through till the end.
10. Accept the fact that endgame is hard
By the time the headcount goes down to 10 players left standing, you should probably have a few notches on your weapon, majority of hp and shields left and a decent loot. But others will have better weapons for sure. This is the downside of this strategy. You will find less chests and unless you can consistently kill enemies, your weapon choice will hurt.
Final words
Here is where I think I can finish my short guide to The Stealth Archer Build. Everything else that there is to cover, encompasses general aspects of the game and tips about those you can find in droves on Youtube or even here, on Steemit.
Thank you for your attention and remember - If you can't beat them, play around them ;)
Still need to try this game. It doesn't look that bad from the screenshots though. Nice post :)
Thank you!
The game is pretty good, trust me. I actually started playing it because I never played battle royale games and I wanted to check out why people love them so much. And because PUBG costs money and Fortnite is free, my first choice was obvious ;P
Nice. I always wondered how it is compared to pubg. I also never played battle royale games before
