ChronoTrigger Best rpg of its time? I think so.
This game is what got me into rpg's. I was a Super Mario, Donkey Kong platform gamer until my cousin showed me this gem of a game.
Chrono Fucking Trigger
This is the game I could not put down, it was definatley different from other rpg's. Most rpg's of that time you would walk on the world map and randomly be attacked or in dungeons. With ChronoTrigger the enemy's were actually on the screen and you could dodge them, allowing you to avoid fights. I really liked this addition it is annoying in other rpg's when you just wanna get somewhere and random enemy's just become tedious.
The story is about a guy named Chrono and his friend who have to go back and forward in time to change the future from being abolished by Lavos, who is the end times.
I wont spoil the story because it is really that good. I felt an attachment to the characters in the game, some of their stories actually made me sad. Dialog in the story changes at parts depending on who you have in your party, there are also multiple endings the the game giving it a replay value. it is a good mix of medival fantasy with some futuristic element's in it. Also the soundtrack to this game is amazing I put my child to sleep with this music.
This game on the super nintendo is very hard to find an actually copy, I had one long ago but lost it.
If you are into old rpg's I would highly suggest this game it is good fun.
