Nintendo: "The Resurgence of an Old King"

in #gaming6 years ago (edited)

One thing has not changed - and it will not change - it is our nature as a form of entertainment. Like any other means of entertainment, we must create an emotional response in order to succeed. Laughter ... fear ... enjoyment ... anger ... affection ... surprise ... and above all, pride of achievement. In the end, triggering those feelings of our players is the true judgment of our work. This is the final measure of success

Nintendo

Recently I read a lot about the multinational companies of videogames, their history, advances, vision and I have stopped with Nintendo, that company that decided to stay with all public, that is still childish for many, and that has a lot of history to tell (too much to try to summarize, I tried to write this note 3 times wanting to talk a little about its beginnings, but it was impossible for me without losing the central focus of my post), a year ago and little more was released its latest console , and despite not having graphic power, with more "serious" titles, and with a lot of hatred before their arrival, a lot of this has triumphed, why?

I mean, two years ago when we only knew her by "NX", we almost did not pay attention to nintendo, in fact we were immersed in the evolution of the next gene and in how the "great power graphics" it could be what was expected for nintendo, not however, it was not like that. We always "expected more" from companies like Sony and Microsoft that we already know that are leaders in this field, but why do we turn and see how once again the small plumber returns to raise in this field? *notice that with this I do not want to make any debate about why "x" console may be better than another, on the contrary, I think that the more possibilities in this world of video games the better*. Returning to the above, if you ask me, I think I can try to answer this based on the work of two important people in this company: Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata.

"Miyamoto, The Creative"

Since '84, he began to read his name of Japan for everyone, since he was young, his great imagination has led him to be the person he is today. Many call it the "father of modern games", I see it as the creative heart that started on Nintendo, from the creation of Donkey Kong, to that game of Super Mario that I am sure that more than 90% of the population of Steemit knows what it is (I just realized when I write this that for the 80 I still was not born, lol) has given life and color to the video game of yesteryear and, above all, it has given a vision for Nintendo.
From 2D to the first 3D games, like Mario 64 or Super Mario Sunshine (God, how I love playing these games), we have seen express your imagination and love for video games all these years, what he has achieved with Mario, a few others do not have achieved it with some protagonist, this also opens a much more extensive universe that belongs to him. (games like Luigi's Mansion, Yoshi's Story, etc.)

Satoru Iwata

He joined Nintendo in the year 2000 and started collaborating shortly before in the game that would change my life forever, Pokémon. In 2002 as president, he began his great work to revitalize a company that suffered compared to consoles such as Ps2 and Xbox, and then promote the development of two great surprises, the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Wii.

"Satoru Iwata, The Impeller"

He is known for his excellence, and although he began to participate a few years later, Satoru was, in contrast to the previous, as the brain behind Nintendo. Despite not having parentage with the Yamauchi family, he obtained the position of President of the company with the only request that "Nintendo create completely new ideas and hardware that reflects that ideal, and that it produces software that meets that same standard", and So it happened.
He was the promoter of the idea that Nintendo should be addressed to a wider audience, it gives rise to the most important context of Nintendo today, the Originality and the target audience.

Even knowing who these two great people are, the question may arise, what does that have to do with the beginning problem? Well, it turns out that knowing them, we learn a lot of the history of nintendo and at the same time, the reason why it is the company that it is now. Nintendo is not just children's games, extensive sagas, "kawaiis" characters. Nintendo is more than that:

What makes nintendo so special, is that fusion and that love for art put into practice, and we see it from the first Mario with Miyamoto, we see it from all the marios until the last of the games of The Legend Of Zelda, its careful, its soundtrack, colors and ambience, that's where we can see it most, they do not try to innovate with a great graphic engine, but they take care of their drawing and invite you to know much more about their art, that is nostalgic, because it reminds us of our childhood, and I included myself because despite my age, I also had the opportunity to play those first NES games, as well as the pokemon, that feeling of being a child, of a game that does not try to force you to play it, on the contrary, invites you, is what characterizes Nintendo, that is what this legacy of Miyamoto has left us.

And Iwata ?, I do not need to explain much, you just need to look at any console following the nintendo DS and the WII. Look at ? That's right, that's Iwata. The innovation and the gameplay of nintendo, that Plus Ultra to differentiate itself from the rest, the way in which each game despite belonging to the same saga, manages to get personality ,define and differentiate apart from art, is the gameplay, if you do not believe me , go then and play 1-2 Switch, look at the Wii sport, they are perfect examples of how to get out of the conventional, the vast majority of the games of Nintendo manage to not be so complicated to play, that is why everyone is welcome to play it, that ... in conjunction with art and imagination is what makes nintendo so valuable now, despite the mistakes they have had as it could have been the Wii-U, that's why to this day, The King resurfaces, little by little.

For young players, classic games are completely new. For the older ones, these titles bring back memories and make one feel good

Evolution of Nintendo

Before saying goodbye I want to leave a last well-known quote about Iwata, which was considered by many its essence and focus in this life:

On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.
