Small selection of gardens we have built, in bloom.

Starting off with a garden we worked on when I was much MUCH younger. Chelsea flower show, the Yorkshire garden. Any show garden is always going to be in bloom, but this one takes some beating. This was planted with 100% native plants, and the results were staggering. Julian Dowle who designed the garden was very keen on us having the planting finished with 2 days to spare, as he found it important for all of the plants to settle before the show opened. He said he finds it important for the flowers to turn to the sunlight, to get a genuine feel to the garden. One thing to remember when visiting any kind of show like this, is that a lot of the flowers in the show, will not flower together. Most of the plants are manipulated to flower early, or a lot of the time late, buy growing them in refrigerated units, to hold them back.

Not a show garden this time, but a stunning water cascade we did just inside the welsh border. A nice picture looking through the lavender, at the feature. Also, take not of the heucheras on the right hand side. A good source of dark reds, and can break up a lot of the usual colours within a border.

These 2 pictures are slightly different. A much more modern garden we built for a makeover show on ITV for the this morning show. The plants chosen by the Rich brothers, were primarily green, planted in front of a darkly painted fence as a backdrop. Modern gardens are something we don’t do too much of any more. This one was very good to work on, and had amazing results. Very enjoyable project.

As usual all of these gardens I have worked upon, and all photos are my own. Any questions on garden construction, please feel free to ask, I will do my best to answer them. I have been a landscape gardener for well over 20 years, and the last 10 of those have been running a company with my brother in law, called Anemone landscapes. We are based in Ross-on-wye in Herefordshire, in the UK. We have worked on small maintenance jobs that can take less than an hour, to huge full construction jobs, that take a crew of 8-10 people, we’ll over 6 months. Also worked on a number of RHS gold meddle gardens at Chelsea, Hampton court and tatton park, one of which we re-built for Manchester council, in a park, and still stands today. I was also the head Gardner in 4 series of a makeover show on ITV.

Thanks for the interest, I hope you like the posts.
