Garden update 2
I’m glad to be back and share with you, my dear friends, progress in mini gardening. My plants, as you can see, are picking up and cheering me with bright greens. It’s lovely. I can spend hours by gazing at them. It’s just make me happy for no reason. Enough about me. Today we are going to talk about soil preparation for potted garden. I used mixture of peat moss(3 parts), perlite(2 parts) and vermiculite (1 part). All of those you can buy in Home Depot. This soil mix keeps moisture very well and don’t allow fertilizer to be easily washed out. Last year, when I assembled this little garden, I added half a cup of “Happy Frog” fertilizer to each pot. This year I did not add anything, just planted new plants in the soil.
On the top of the soil I added about 2” of mulch. It helps with keeping soil moist. It is essential, especially here in Florida. If you have any questions, please post it in comments.
I still have problems with white flies. Somehow they are managing to get through the screen inside. For that I’m planning to order lady bugs and release them in my mini garden. I definitely going to make some nice pictures and share it with you. Stay tuned!
