Maker Challenge No.2 - My hydroponic setup

in #gardening6 years ago (edited)

@makinstuff and @jackdub are doing a contest where all the steemians are invited to show them their hydroponic / aquaponic setup and this is my entry to the contest. I will show you my Hydroponic set up.

Update: Maker Challenge No.2 - Aqua / Hydroponic Garden Maker Challenge - 45 STEEM in Rewards

I really already had plans to show it later when it was already working, so this contest is wonderful for me, is the opportunity to share it with people who could have more experience in the matter.

What is a hydroponic crop?

A hydroponic crop is a type of crop that does not use soil. A system is used to circulate water with nutrients necessary for a plant to grow. Normally this system is made of PVC pipes. A container is also used to hold the plant inside these pvc tubes, while its roots absorb nutrients from the circulating water.

This is my first hydroponic crop and I made it with the help of my father @rapo

We use an electric water pump machine to pump the water with nutrients through the pvc tubes

we did the hydroponic system to grow 31 plants ...

This to begin ...

If everything goes well, we will make more hydroponics system for more plants!

The plants are not yet in the hydroponic system because they are still in the growth stage before being transplanted to the hydroponic system

These are tomato plants that I am growing in small plastic cups

And others in some larger pots

I have also germinated paprika plants

Some of the roots of the paprika plants are starting to come out below the container and that was just what we wanted

These small plants are still growing, in about 2 weeks they will be ready to be transplanted to the hydroponic system, as the system is made for only 31 plants, the rest will be planted in fertile soil!

Excellent work. Are you growing hot paprika or sweet?

This post is one of the top prize posts for the Meadows & Makers Challenge No.2 - 10 STEEM has been transferred to you. Many thanks for your entry :)

ooohh this is really awesome man!! i'm so excited!! thaanks so much , this is a good inspiration and incentive to keep going and learning more about gardening, hydroponic and fish farming too

Que buena idea compañero... sigue así y cuideleas muuucho.

Así sera... te imaginas unas 20 - 30 plantas de vegetales dando frutos? seria muy bueno de ver :)

This looks great @malos10! Thank you for your submission. Simple and elegant solution for an NFT hydroponics system. I'm excited to see what kind of results you get. I've done a lot with aquaponics but haven't played that much with hydroponics and your technique.

@malos10 is being modest. Food security is uncertain where he lives. He is trying with simple techniques that can be built cheaply in homes and scaled up.

Well, this is my first time too so it will be interesting :) ❤ it's said that the crops from the hydroponics and aquaponics grows bigger and healthier

Thanks for the entry into the challenge! :) I like your hydroponic setup, streamlined and looks very productive. We'll announce the top posts for this challenge on saturday :)

i'm glad you liked it!! i'm excited to see how these tomatoes and paprika plants will grow!!

These are excellent skills to be learning from your father. Good work!
