The orchid named Cattleya Mossiae was decreed as the national flower of Venezuela on May 23, 1951, apart from its extreme beauty the orchid is the only flower whose name posse the five vowels, belongs to the most extensive family of the vegetable kingdom, which includes some 30 thousand species distributed in about 800 genera, the largest variety of them are native to South America.
Most of the genera present a similar structure composed of three elongated petals, behind, and wider petals, in front. the lower petalo is larger than the two lateral and is modified in the form of a lip, so it also receives the name of labelo.La label of the cattleya stands out for its wavy lines that simulate the turgid shape of a woman's body, reason for which reason it is considered the symbol of femininity and beauty in Venezuela.
