Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden
It is a rainy but happy day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!
We made a delicious feast for our full time volunteers on our indoor wood burning stove rather than on the rocket stoves of our sustainable outdoor kitchen. We stayed nice and toasty, had a fantastic meal, AND heated water for showers for super sustainable efficiency. As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you!
Today we had a something for everyone in our sustainable feast!
We made a beautiful salad, vegan curry, chicken sausages, veggie burgers, sautéed veggies, and all the trimmings to make dank burgers!
We started with our ample daily garden salad. We laid a base of rich dark green spinach and topped it with cucumber, shredded carrots, red onions, tomatoes, and blue cheese for tons of flavor and lots of vitamins and minerals.
We had a delicious vegan curry for one of our main dishes! This has a touch of apple and coconut milk for sweetness, and lots of curry powder to spice up the beans. We served this dish over brown rice.
We offered organic chicken sausages as well as veggie burgers with today's dinner. There were plenty of options for all of our dietary preferences! We highly support everyone's right to choose and their freedom to enjoy exactly the foods they want.
We made a lovely pan of sautéed veggies with mushrooms, yellow and green onions, and greens in olive oil. This was delicious on its own, over salad, or as the topping for a sandwich, burger, or sausage.
We had some crusty gluten free rolls for anyone who wanted to make themselves a sandwich, or just eat a piece of bread.
We also served a tray of über dank pickles! We have a lot of inspired flavors in our pantry; these jazz up anything you put them on.
We served some creamy condiments on the side. We have a delicious basil pesto, garlicky guacamole, and mayonnaise.
We even had a special dessert treat today because we were gifted a carrot cake! We like sweets, but don't have them with every meal or even every day. It makes indulging in dessert that much more special to enjoy it as a special treat rather than a daily part of our diet!
It was a great meal with lots of options for customizing each dish. Everyone ate as much as they wanted, and we shared the meal in happiness and thanks for this abundant life!
Thanks for sharing our feast with us today 🖤
Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!
We do all of our cooking over fire, using wood that was otherwise destined to end up in a landfill! This is our indoor wood burning stove in action - it cooks our food, warms our communal space, and heats water for hot showers all at the same time!
Food is an honored & elemental part of our daily life in community. You can learn more about our unique, intimate, and super sustainable relationship with food here!
